Okay so I'm seriously thinking i'll be purchasing some sort of HID, retro or kit, in the next couple of weeks. Heres whats up:

A Few Questions:

-All the kits that fit the 9006 are compatible with our lowbeams???
-Retrofit all you need are the ballasts, bulbs and wiring??
-Do I absoulutley need a projector, i want to get some but I've seen cars w/ HIDs w/o projectors in the headlights???
-What "K", if you will, HID do cars like the S2000 and the 350Z come with??? I think as the farther you go up, (6000K < 7500K < 8000K < 120000K) the better quality and color variations right??? Personally I was looking for the 8000K ones only because they look really blue and I want that blue look, but I dont really know the difference I guess. I've heard that you substitute the blue color for the amount of light that is put out. If I could put it into a ratio for you guys (blue/light output) I'd say I'm looking for a 60/40 or 70/30ish if this helps to answer my question.


I really want to put these into the stock 97-99 Headlights. I wanted to run them w/o projectors to see how they look first.

I really don't like any of the aftermarket projectors for our cars, so I was thinking about pulling apart the stock headlamps and fitting in a4 or some other high quality projector. Anyone hear of this being done. Looking for any suggestions, comments, and criticisms welcome.

Do a search. There's a couple of people on here that have HID's installed both on their stock 2G headlights and also on projector lights.

Also, I don't know what state your from but i'm from NJ and some guy told me a few weeks back that there was a new law put into effect here that if you are caught with HID's on your car and it didn't come that way from the factory that you can go to jail. I didn't ask him why but I guess it's because i've seen some cars with aftermarket HID's and they are so bright that you have to look to the side when they are driving towards you. That can definately cause an accident. I'm not sure if this new law is true but it's something to check into just in case.

i heard about the same law they are trying to pass in ny but i didnt think it was really true . anyways i get tickets for everything else on my car too so cops can suck my balls

I really want the blue look. I'm actually looking at these specific ones. Sounds like an awesome deal plus the 2 yr warranty!!! Anyone have opinions about the "K" on these lights being a bit more blue than the lower "K" HIDs??? I like it but I hope its not overwhelming.

Im pretty sure they have it for 9006 but i dont think it matters because you will be upgrade the projectors too. So whatever HID Projectors you put it you have to match up the bulbs.

No Ballast, bulbs and wire should fit fine but You have to connect the wires so you get battery connection. But what you will need to retrofit is the HID Projectors.

Yes and No. You could use stock headlight but you will need to put a projectors on them which is little bit harder. But if you have the projector headlight it comes with it so all you have to do is take the headlight apart and take the old projectors out and put new ones in. Yes you do see it w/o projectors but in that case you give another reason for cop to pull you over.

The K is for temp. Higher the temp go the color changes. 4600k is the oem look which in my opinion it looks lot better.

Tell you the truth if you dont know what your doing this will be hard for you. So i suggest you find somebody does it around your area and ask them to do it for you and pay extra cash.

Also if you want blue color go with 8000k

Don't put them in your OEM housings. I had HID in my eclipse with the OEM housings and those bastards glared all over the place. Every car that comes with HID has 4300k bulbs from the factory. The only reason why they look different colors is because of how the light reflects off the housings and the cutoffs.

what i sudgest was put the HID projectors on the oem headlights.

That's what I wanted to do, put the projectors in the OEM headlight houseing. Wait why would it blind everyone else??? i thought the point of the projector lens was to channel where the light was pointed??

Don't put and HID "KIT" in an OEM housing is what he is saying.

Just putting an HID bulb (one that has been modified to have a 9006 base) into a stock headlight housing and reflector will have glare issues unless you do time consuming mods to the reflector bowl.

The best method is to install a complete projector and lens system from an OEM HID equipped vehicle. That is not an easy task.

I had an HID kit in OEM housings for awhile but it was a lot of work to reduce the unwanted glare. Soon after that, an outer lens busted from a rock hit I bought eBay projectors and used the re-based bulbs in those. That was not much better than what I had. I eventually installed a complete Hella E55 Bi-Xenon system from a Mercedes inside the Ebay housings. It is very difficult to do it properly and have it all sealed up tight but it's the only way to do it right and get true HID lighting.

If you are from Jersey dont put a regular hid bulb kit in your housing. Now that I just read about this law I am pretty pissed. Because my shit was done rite, and if this law is true then I have to take it out which will make me highly upset.

People who do this stuff wrong is what screws it up for everyone else. Makes me very sad :(

Yes this is true. I have heard if your car is not 2000 and up and HID doesnt come factory you could get ticketed for it. But if you did it right and it doesnt bother ppls cop should have no reason to pull you over.

I'm in NY.....so maybe I'll get away with it :-)
