Hello.

I just picked up a salvaged Eclipse from a "graveyard" for 800. It is a nonturbo motor which runs perfectly, or will once I do ALL maintnance.

The exterior is for the most part needing replacement.. The fenders and front are messed up and the rear is gone.

I was thinking about making this primarily a show car, since I already own a 99 GSX with a 16g turbo (completely sleeper looking BTW).

It will be cheaper and more fitting for a show car to go with a fiberglass bodykit and other various exterior mods.

I was wondering what kind of work is needed for the "ebay special" body kits to fit right. I can fiberglass and whatnot, I just need to know what is commmonly needed to be done to them. I plan to mold them on, and I don't mind fiberglass so much seeing as it will not be a daily driver, just for show.

I'm not too sure about molding and everything, but my friend ordered an eBay kit for his 3000GT and when he got it, it was poorly packed, cracked, and badly damaged. The fitting of the pieces wasn't any better either. He then had to take pictures, contact the seller, send the kit back, and get a refund. He said it would have been much easier to order a kit from a reputable business. He ended up going through Andy's Autosport and he said the quality and service was a lot better. His dad owns a body shop and was helping with the work on his car and his dad told him to just send the pieces back and get them somewhere else.

So if it were up to me, I would spend a little extra money and get it from a better place.

Don't use an ebay kit for a show car. You will not be too impressed to say the least. I seen a kit for a civic (the most played out car for body kits) and IT DIDN't even fit worth a shit. Tons of body work and fixing and then it still looks the part. Like shit.

Screw the ebay kits they will fit like garbage. You can get the knock off OEM bumpers and stuff off ebay though as they fit exactly like OEM.

I wouldn't even search ebay for bodykits. I have a friend who put a blitz kit on his Talon and when it got it, it looked like it fell off a trailer on the highway.

Since this car is primarily only going to be a show car in your case, I would definitely search around for some reputable body kit sellers. Or you could search around the classifieds on tuners or the For Sale/Wanted section of the forum.

... show cars don't require body kits. :o
