I am starting to look into some HID kits.

I like the kits that dont require perm mods to use them. the bulb replacement is 100.00 a pair

Now i looked at HID planet but those look like kits that i would need to retrofit into my Projectors.

Your thoughts or recommendations

your best bet is to buy some projectors/ballast/bulbs off ebay or something and retrofit them into your housing b/c the stock headlight housings or even aftermarket projectors housing will create a lot of glare to oncoming traffic. I just retorifttee some projectors into my aftermarket housing and it turned out great.

Yea, when the time comes I plan to buy a 5000K McCulloch Hella Xenon HID kit probably off ebay and get some aftermarket projectors off ebay also. Just fit them in, people seem to be happy with this type of set-up. Id like to know more about the H1 5000K on that site you have though, the price is def. right. But I thought we needed H3s...

Wow that's a really good price. Mine were bought new from ebay and were about 240 shipped.

Personally i wouldnt get those. I mean yes price is cheaper than most HIDs out there. But why not just get the better quality for little bit more extra. I been thinking about buying a set of projector headlights and retrofitting the headlights.

Things you will need to get is
HID Bulbs and balast
HID projectors (just in put i believe a4 or s4 projector fits perfect)
and alot of free times.

Well the reason i liked them was not really the cost, the fact they were plug and play mostly. I dont like the idea of having to cut up a set of projectors that have nothing wrong with them plus the tiem involved with aiming them then re-assembling the housings ect.... I dont have time for it right now and really dont want to. Guess factory lights will have to do.

Honestly, I think HIDs whether you do the plug or play or do the retro fit are worth it since you can actually see at night better than stock. I've never been flashed at night for glare, and when I turn them on and look at the beam pattern, there's no glare.

Ok i think i misunderstood the point you guys were trying to make. Your saying its not the style of kit I pointed out its the manufacturer.
I though you were sayign i should get the kit that comes with the projectors and cut up my housing to accomidate the projector. The proxenon kit is the same that i posted just better quality. I do like that style since all i need to do is wire it into my car and the bulb is direct fit into the housing.

Was that your guys points?

Yes sir. Piece of cake installation, took me like 45 min. Had to take the front bumper off to mount the ballasts. their pretty small and they have adhesive so you an mount them to the frame inside the bumper. I can send pics next week I'll be taking my bumper off if you can wait until like wednesday. Their simple plug and play. If you get projector housing their a must (HIDs in general) cause the light output sucks with projectors. Mine use H3 which are really small bulbs.

Yeah, basically just he kind of kit to go with. Bohman is pretty good and used for German cars like audi, bmw, mercedes. Just rememebr, the higher the lumen, the more expensive and colorful, but the less light output. I got the 4300k, when I buy a set for my bike, I'm going to go with a higher lumen for more color like 6k.

don't buy a cheap kit. get something reputable like a mcculloch or other big name brand. i got a set of hanabi hid's and one've the ballasts died after aboout a year. it's easy to find replacement bulbs but ballasts are kind've a pain. plus every manufacturer usually has their own special connectors they use so there's not a lot of interchangability. basically i've got one ballast and two bulbs but no HID on my car (driving with 1 hid and 1 halogen looks dumb)... i miss my HID's a lot and will most definately get a kit when i get around to doin a 97-99 conversion with some nice projectors.

Get a McCulloch kit. Don't buy some cheap no name brand. You'll be a lot happier in the end.

I have never heard of Bohman and I don't know where you get your information from. BMW uses Phillips.

Just curious you have your stock headlights or projector headlights? I mean yes plug and play might be easy but all i could say is that output of the HIDs wont be like BMW, Audi, Acura. That's all i want to tell you. If you have a projector headlights i believe a4/s4 projectors will fit right in to your old projector headlights.

^^^ is correct. I had HIDs in my stock headlights on my eclipse and thought they were great. The light output from them sucked ass compared to the output that I get now in my OEM HID projectors on my BMW. A complete world of difference.

Well none of us are kidding ourselfs in regards of wanting our car to be exactly like the HIDs in BMWs ($40000 bmw vs $6000 eclipse). The fact is, our oem light output sucks, and it is almost like a safety hazard.

ok the question that leaves me with is, how do you get the projector from a kit into the aftermarket projector housing? I either have to cut up the back side of the housings to reach inside or bake the headlight to disassemble it which i really dont want to do.

You have to bake it, take off the lense, and then spend a lot of time with a dremel and a steady hand with a lot of measuring to retrofit the projector

it was a piece a cake to do the retro fit of my HID's.... quick summary i cut a piece of cardboard out ot make a templet for a bracket. I lined the holes up with the stock moutning spots of the oringinal projectors. Then i situated the aftermarket projectors so i could drill holes into the same bracket piece. The i just cut otu the sheet metal and bolted that to the housing and then bolted the aftermarket projector into that. all in all it took me about 1-2 hours to botl/fabricate everythi up. it was really simple if you ask me. and if i wanted to i could put hte projectors back to stock. i did not cut 1 thing on the actual headlight housing. retrofitting is the way to go. ill find the link on dsmtuners that shows a step by step in what to do. i jsut used this as a reference on how to do mine. it realyl is not htat hard to do the retrofit and it will turn out a lot better in the end.

Okay this is how you done.

1. Heat up your headlight so you could take them apart
2. Look behind the housing and unscrew the bolt that is holding on to projectors
3. Put the A4/S4 projectors back in and screw them back on
4. put the headlight back and seal them tight so you wont get moist in them
5. Put the HID bulbs, connect them to ballast
6. Put the headlight back on to your car and adjust the lights

Remember A4/s4 projectors should fit right into the projectors you have. If you need PM AZDAVE and ask him for the link of his headlight since he did bi-xenon hid on his car with benz projectos. I'm thinking about doing the same thing but with different projectors.
