I know macco has been discussed several times but what about Earl Sheib?
My doors are fading on my car and they said they can repaint both of them for 270.00 but for the month of december they are haveing their pro 3 paint jobs on sale. Its regular 800.00 on sale for 399.00 with a 6 year warrenty against fading peeling ect... Has anyone had any experience with them?

yup, i've also heard their worse than macco, but I believe they have better warranties. However, I did see Dan's (thedawg) talon; he got his painted at earl sheib, and the paint looks pretty damn sweet. I believe he only paid 300$ from what i remember him telling me, however, he did show me how crappy their masking skills were.

it's about the same as maaco.

I have had a lot of experiences with earl sheib. Their warranties are pretty good but your gonna find yourself going back many times to get the work re-done. It's not worth it in my opinion. Just save up your money and go somewhere better. They're clear coat peals after a while and they use the wrong primer on bumpers so that any impact at all and all the paint on your bumper will start to chip.

I was pretty unhappy after a few weeks with that Earl Schieb job... don't think I'll ever use them again, and the only reason I went there in the first place is because I was just looking to sell the car quick, and it had been keyed severely already. The car is sold now, but here's what I experienced.

- The paint *dissolved* when I washed the wheel wells with "Foaming tire cleaner" at the car wash.
- The masking was absolutely stupid. They painted almost every piece of rubber weather strip on the car.
- I specifically asked for no overspray onto the gastank and custom exhaust, and they did anyways.
- There was significant overspray on the sideview mirrors and inside the custom wheels.
- There were about 10 pieces of dust/dirt trapped in the paint.
- 3/10 of the door dings I asked them to fill weren't fixed.
- Basically the paint they use is the same stuff you get in a spraypaint can of enamel at home depot. Just sprayed on with professional guns.
- The "clear coat" is just a gloss added to the paint. There is no actual coat of clear paint.

Given that all that sounds pretty horrible, the paint looked great to the casual buyer, and made the car quite easy to sell. It's just not for me.

TrapSpeed from tuners had it done.



It started chipping and peeling on the front after a month because they didn't prime or clear it.

But, he did go from red to black. If your car (in the sig) is originally black, I don't foresee a problem. But, you really need some clear coat in my opinion.

I used One Day Paint w/ 5 Year Warrenty.....For a Daily Driven car I think its pointless to spend $3000 on a paint job but thats me i suppose.

Is the paint job you had by 1 day the blue eclipse? Do they do the door jams and everything? How much was it and how good of a job was it.

painting a car is 75% prep work. You could prep the car yourself, buy the primer, paint, and/or clear yourself and tell them to use that. I bet it would come out eleventy billion times better. Just read up on how to prep the car and make friends with a body guy. It's not hard, you just got to take your time.

Well I had a huge wing on there, they took off the wing filled the holes, molded my sides, did all door jams, took off the door sills and painted under those, took off weatherstripping and painted under those on some parts, under the hatch and a lil under the engine bay...it ended up costingme about $900 or so with 5 Year Warranty... I know its not perfect cuz like said above there were a couple of spots where they did overspray like on the bottom of my mufflers and gas tank and stupid stuff like that but like said above its not a $4000 paint job. They mask lights and windows off instead of taking them out thats another reason why they are cheaper, to be honest I would go to them again, I did have my clear coat pealing at one point but just took it back and they re did it. I fuck up going over curbs and shit anyways so why spend $4k u know? I got to choose any color I wanted and just got the color code from the dealership.

damn dude 900$ is a deal, from the looks of the pics, the paint looks awesome. Was it a 2stage paint process or 1stage??

Earl Scheib painted a stang for me about seven years ago and when I got it back, it was horrible. I bithced and raised hell for two weeks and they finally took it back. When I got my ride back this time, it looked great. I wrecked in four months later so i can't say how it would have done long term.

i just had my car painted there and i was furious when i came to pick it up last week. i was screamin at em..... i was told they were better than maaco.... scratched my BRAND NEW projector headlights got paint on em AND scratched 1 HELLA BAD, paint on the 3600$ rims, my exhuast ( i could care less bout that) paint ran on a fender, i paid for all the dents to get taken out, only 1 was taken out i have to go back and leave my car with them again next monday! Pure BullShit But whatever, u get what u pay for... my case i paid 800 to get a beeter job and i think i shouldve paid 300.
