Novemeber 19. That date for the past 3 years has been the date Kandy has made a turn around somehow or another. This year, I drove her home from the audio guy's shop for the first time since I dropped her off on AUGUST 19. I'm not thrilled about what my thousands of dollars bought me and the THREE months it took him to do the work. Sure I could have hooked it all up myself but there's the warrenty thing that I want in the event an electronic piece malfunctions, plus I had already kinda paid for the installtion in the original price anyway. Good thing I had him install it:

2 out of 4 Accel screens were dead out of the box, Audio Control EQX was fried (I really think its a manufacturers defect), ambiance tweeters hit 1 high note and POOF exploded, and the additional battery just wouldnt fit along with capacitor which was DOA anyway. So, he claims Accel's warrenty is 15 or so days after the date of his purchase so I would be screwed with the 2 dead screens but since quote on quote he's a nice guy end quote he will order 2 new ones for me for free (honestly I think he used the screens I purchased in someone else's vehicle and couldnt get replacements soon enough so he took these 2 dead ones from a past project and lied to me about it) I recently found out Accel's warrenty is 1 year from my purchase date, the audio Control EQX was purchased from nexxon.com which is no longer in business so I'm stuck with a $230 paper weight since they do not warrenty items purchased online, the ambiance tweeters are warrentied so those are being replaced, the battery is made by Orbital I think, and that will go in his storage closet, and the capacitor is warrentied but he wants a 15 farad instead. After all is said and done, he still wants $250 out of me. $100 of that is because the last $1500 I paid him was on my credit card and he didnt want to take it because "Mastercard would charge him an arm and leg in fees" unless he charged me an additional $100. That itself frustrates me beyond belief because its not even my problem but he made it mine. Moving on because that pisses me off even thinking about it...

For some reason this install just wasnt what I expected. It's STUPID LOUD no doubt, but that is only when its hooked up to a battery charger since my alternator just cant take it. I was dragged into the idea of leaving 1 battery and getting a 15 Farad capacitor. I dont want to go that route, I'd rahter fit a small honduh battery in the back and use a battery isolator or 2 honduh batteries and bridge them.

But anyways... At the shootout, I felt like a lameass to an extent baring a bunch of holes in a pretty box in the back of the car. Surprisingly many people asked for me to post pictures once everything was installed, so here is the post. I left the pictures decent size, but so just remove the space... blah blah you know the deal.



I got the car back one day then the next day it snowed. WTF!!!!!!

On the brighter side.... the black carpet looks wicked awesome. lol I plan on sticking with the tan and black theme with some carbon fiber pieces here and there. (hint hint) Also, after all that added weight, surprisingly it still screws!

Over the winter I might have the car repainted with a slightly different hue purple and clean up the engine bay and turn it into something that I actually like to show off versus starring at that rusted turbo and downpipe, and finishing off the interior.

Doesnt sound like you went to a high quality shop. Most high end installers dont install Cap's anymore unless the buyer wants one and is going cheap. Batteries have come a long way since caps were big 10 years ago. There are batteries now that "act" like a capacitor and a battery combined.

You couldnt think of anything better than planet audio? Next time look into DiamondAudio. prices are really fair considering the quality is above most others.

A friend does high end installs in exotics in Phoenix, I learned a lot about the advances in Car audio since i last ran Competition in 97. Car audio has come so far and Caps are kind of a thing of the past, granted the 15farad Cap/battery is newer, most high end dont want to deal with it.

Good luck. You learned a valuable lesson about how shitty the shop you were dealing with is. Warrenty is when you find out how good a shop will be. the CC issue is true, they do charge 3 or 4% for you using it but that is a part of doing business and the sellers need to accept that if they want to move a large volume.

Damn, i just got ripped a new asshole. Planet audio was supposed to be sponsering me once upon a time but ended up sponsering someone else because I didnt attend shows in 2003. As far as the shop itself, the guy is the best person you would ever know, its the guy he works with that is the problem. This guy has been in some DEEP shit and works "under the table" for the audio shop making his money running an escort service, and hasnt paid the IRS in years. Mind you this guy is 33 fucking years old. He hates me because Kandy is a much better put together car over his 91 Civic hatch piece of shit, which is "the shop car" and he dosnt like it like that. So he talks shit and starts drama and whatnot to piss off everyone and the sad part is that he's got that macho appearance so no one is man enough to stand their ground to him. I did once but man, the heated arguement we got in wasnt pretty.

Damn girl, that car looks fuckin' hot! Good job! I hope things work out for you better in the end.

I got two diamond audio chrome 12's with a nice see-through amp and I'm loving every minute of them. Nice and clean and plenty loud.

Yeah, it's easy to find a bad shop in some areas. In my state there's all sorts of good shops that will do a really nice job, it's just a matter of finding that one shop that's gonna do something that no one else will do. My setup was finished off on the inside with neon and paint matched to my car which is pretty sweat because you can see the chrome mags on the subs. I definetly don't have anything crazy like yours with like 6 subs. I wonder what that install guy was thinking running 6 subs on your factory battery and alternator with just a capacitor. I don't care how big the capacitor is, I almost bet he doesn't even know how a capacitor works! Shit I had to put a dry-cell in mine for my stupid two subs!

Look into elemental designs subs... I've been running one for a good while now and it is by far the favorite of all the subs I've owned, it even topped the custom ones I had made for me (mostly since it sounds the same but costed 1/6th as much).. and I've had quite a few subs in my day
$130usd brand new for the good ones, and since Elemental is all about the DIY stuff, they will give you a 3 year transferable warranty no problem on EVERYTHING, amps, speakers, and subs.

I don't think I would look into anything other than selling all but one of them, half the amps, all the monitors, and the cap to get a roll cage installed and a GT3540R. Kandy is a sweet ride, Michelle. Now that she's pretty much done, you get to spend time tweaking this and polishing up that. I think this is where it should start to get fun, since you've already spent the big bucks. It's all nickel and dime stuff at this point. :thumbsup

..... ????? How many times have we all said this??? I don't know if this is posible. I don't know about you, but I have the most fun buying expensive stuff and a lot of it and putting it on my car. The whole fun is doing more and more things to the car. Often times the small parts aren't as much fun as the big ones because their harder to notice.

The only problem with that is passing nh emissions, they plug straight into the obd2 port.

I love my Elemental Design sub. I 12" woofer with 900W of Alpine clarity. It rattles the windows in my buddy's TSi when I am sitting next to him in traffic. The clarity on it is absolutly amazing.

Damn girl, that Interior is fine as hell. I would sleep in it ;)

Last night, I was going through all the umpteen videos on my computer that I've downloaded off this site over the years and Ihave to say, one of my absolutely favorites is that one you made almost a year ago of Kandy. (December 11, 2004 to be exact.)

It's one of the best videos I've ever seen and I watch it often. I'm sure there are other people out there like myself that watch your car in that video and think about how cool it would be to have such a sharp DSM.

I'm not fond of the video only because 9 out of 10 people that view it ALWAYS say OMFGWTF COMPRESSOR SURGE. My response always is the video was taken with ~100 miles on the engine so vac lines werent run right. 2 days after it was fixed, but i never got any new videos after.

I bought a laptop with a DVD burner and burned that video on a DVD to see if it would play, and sure enough. wowzers! I was in heaven the first time I saw it on my whole 3 screens. lol The music pounds too. w0o0t

I wanted to get some more videos and put another set together but its been like 10* here like everyday and the salt on the roads is an inch thick. BAH!

I would say before you upgrade the turbo, reroute the IC pipe. That pipe hurts the styling of the front. Would look soo much cleaner rerouted.

I dont know the backround on the car much, is the motor built? How about EMS? Before you dump a crap load on the turbo consider upgrading somewhere else. If the turbo you have now is maxed out then upgrade. Max out what you have then begin upgrading so you get your money out of what you bought.

i see so many members upgrading just because they want bigger when they can even use what they have to its 90% capacity. Its just a waste of cash.

Good luck deciding what you want to go with. Some things to consider.

Pretty sure her engine was built top to bottom by VT back in the day. She has an entire album full of pictures. She sent disposable cameras to the shop and asked them to take pictures of everything along the way. It's pretty cool. Engine is built to handle things. Michelle went all out on her car. Perhaps pull the exhaust mani, turbo and downpipe, then have them jet-coated with that shiny Sterling coat or whatever they have. It's a near chrome finish. Looks hot and would be functional as well. This would be a good idea, in my opinion, for a couple reasons. Supposing you installed a MSnS system in the car, you could get your feet wet tuning a well-known Star T3/T4 (whatever the upgraded turbo was) before stepping up to something nasty like a GT35. When you did get the bigger turbo later on, having the T3/T4 coated and healthy would help you squeeze more money out of it to offset the cost of the new snail. ;)

Michelle, that video was well put together and I liked it. In fact, in the rare instances where I hear that song, I immediately stop and think, "Hey! The intercooler that I wanted was the Greddy 24v, granted it isnt made for our 420a motor, but the 4g63 so the only way we could get it to fit was to run the pipe at the bottom. I really hated the way it looked at first, then after dozens of people said honestly they really liked it because it "prooves its a fuctioning IC". (Way too many people up here us IC's for a 'custom cold air intake' or just put it there for looks to make their car look all that much faster. I like it the way it is, and even if I didnt like, I would have to live with it because the front bumper is cut so that the pipe can run freely and secure. Dosnt matter what other people think, it's what I like.

As Driggs said, the motor was rebuilt by VT back in the day from top to bottom and I have the pictures to show it. The motor will handle anything I throw at it. If I could turn back time, I would totally scratch the audio in the back for something much less and make the car a full go car versus show and go. Unfortuantly I cant, and I will learn to like what I have. I only drove the car maybe 30 miles on a partially dead battery and could feel the weight. I can just hear what people will say come spring that all that weight slows the car down and it does. If I chose to upgrade to a GT35, thats my business, no one elses. If it blows up my fully built engine then it does, but considering what its composed of, I 100% doubt it unless its not tuned and comming this far, I learned not to cut corners in any way.
