91002, ebay front bumper Posted by baxsom, Dec-01-05 08:21 AM

i just received this today. looks like new with no scratches, primer is smooth. the only problem is that one of the mounting tabs that will get cut off to fit the intercooler anyway is cracked.
i am still debating on going to the 2gb headlights. the bumper will fit with a slight overlap on the lights. the one pic i saw on dsmtuners of a 97 bumper with 96 lights didnt look too bad. i will have to wait and see i guess
not too bad for 100 shipped

Pick up some aftermarket projectors, throw on a HID kit spray paint that sucker and your rocking.
Is that an old school gsxr in the background?

91007, RE: ebay front bumper Posted by baxsom, Dec-01-05 09:38 AM
no actually its an old school (1994 to be exact) ZX9
i painted it myself so I am thinking about doing the bumper myself as well
here is a shot of how DHL packed the bumper (not to mention a better shot of my bike)
the delivery wasnt bad considering all that was covering it was tape and bubble wrap

Is that the bumper from pershingautobodyparts03? I bought mine on ebay too & I'm picking it up Friday from the paint shop. Definitely upgrade to 97-99 headlights imo.

yep i got my bumper from them, it was a little warped from all the tape and bubbble wrap being too tight but it worked itself out, and i just got the ebay 97-99 lights too, i don't think it looks too bad

no the sellers name was qualitydiscountautoparts
overall i am very happy with it
i will probably go ahead and get some black projectors i dont like projectors because i dont think that they put out enough light but oem 2gb lights are amazingly expensive

The 95-96 headlights will fit, but it looks horrible, trust me. My RS has a 99 front with the 95 headlights, it looks wrong..

Hey, I have projectors and my stock 97-99 headlights (cleared out). The projectors' output isn't that bad. It's just that between the low beams and high beams, there's not much difference.
My dad cut off my harnesses too close though, so I can never reuse stock headlights. :(

did you guys' bumpers have that triangle indentation for the emblem? i'd kinda rather go without the emblem so i was thinking of just having it filled. just wondering what you guys did with it. oh yea, did you guys get that one piece in the main opening painted black like the real OEM ones or did you just paint the entire bumper? it looks like kinda a pain and probalby more expensive to have it painted black separately...
|
91030, RE: ebay front bumper Posted by baxsom, Dec-01-05 06:23 PM
i bought the emblem from mitsubishipartspeople.com 12 bucks so i figured it was the easiest way to take care of the triangle dent thing
since i am not sure how much a paint job for the bumper is going to be or how much of the center is going to get cut of for the hahn fmic i will just go with what comes easier at the time
plus i think i will just spend the cash for oem lights

i really hate going against myself but i got these off of ebay today

i wrote the store and they said that it uses the stock 9005/9006 bulbs. i figured that i would keep the reply and if it comes it needing H1/H3 i can get my money back
some sylvania silverstars might help but geez have you seen the price of oem headlights

Lol, I've got those projectors. They use H1 and H3 bulbs if they're like mine.
And I have OEM headlights just sitting here and I'm in TX. Lol.
You will like the 2GB look nonetheless.

not sure if their the same but those look like the ones i've got and mine were direct plug and play no cutting of any wires,
kinda starting to wish i had gotten that bumper although i guess i needed a little something standing out in the front to balance out my rear although if i was you i would go to the turbo spoiler now too, it would look sweet
|
91053, RE: ebay front bumper Posted by baxsom, Dec-03-05 02:40 AM
i was going to do the turbo spoiler but like an idiot i actualy searched here how to do it and started seeing that it was costing people in the upwards of 1000 bucks to do it right
gonna have to pass for now anyway

If only they had 97-98 talon front bumpers on E-bay. Then Bumpintalon wouldnt be in his constant quest for one.

how is the quality overall? also is it FG or urethane? iv been looking at these for a while for my 96 and i havent heard too much about these from ebay. i really need a new one...but id prefer it be of good quality and of urethane. i know yours is for the 2GB, but im sure its all the same.

91097, RE: ebay front bumper Posted by baxsom, Dec-04-05 11:46 AM
how can you tell the difference between the two materials and i will let you know
|
91104, RE: ebay front bumper Posted by shazow1969, Dec-04-05 06:14 PM
Fiberglass is rigid and will crrack and break if you try to twist it excessively. Urethane is very flexable and will not break very easily, almost a flexible plastic type material.

i think it is the plastic thing then because it looks and feels like abs plastic and was wrapped so tight when i got it that the edges were bent over and then snapped back to normal when i unwrapped it

got the same bumper, it is urethane.
dosen't explode into a million fiberglass peices when i accidently hit a speedbump at a bad angle.
great bumper for the price, it fit perfectly, all the wholes are pre-drilled. And it was manufactured in Taiwan, TDM BAYBEE!!
