9048, Moving the AC controls Posted by HondaHater21, Oct-02-01 01:44 PM
Hey, I was wondering if anyone has ever moved there AC controles to another location. I wan a space for my LCD, and I want to move them to the center console. I have seen them moved to the glove box, but thatis a pain to reach.

I'm sure it can be done, just a lot of custom work, eg..extending lines, linkages, and wiring. I've thought about this too, but it would be cool to see an lcd in there!! If you do attempt to do it, let us know with pics and how you did it. We would all prob like to see how it looks..

Build an enclosure like a sub box to fit in your glovebox. Wiring could be spliced/soldered and I guess all would be good.

XtremeRS mentioned linkages...those will be the problem. There are 2-3 mechanical connections (like the throttle cable) that would be a pain to lengthen. I think once you check out all the shit you'd have to change...you'll rethink things. What about just having a screen flip down from the ceiling? Or maybe a removable screen that will cover the HVAC controls when in use. I suppose you wouldn't need to get to the HVAC stuff while using the screen. Not a good idea to watch DVDs while driving.

Just take out the passenger airbag and have the LCD in there.

I know it will be a pain, Right now the screen is flush in the glove box, but I thought it would be coolthere. My plane is to have nothing out in the open so when you look in you dont seen nothin(the screen would flip) And yeah, I know it is bad to watch TV and drive, but when you are stuck in traffic for an hour, you wish you had one

it'd been done and linkage isn't the problem it's just alotta custom fab and fibreglass work that's a pain to work into a tiny space. get the clarion flipout screen with the slave dvd drive if you want dvd. the clarion is touch screen and it can play while the screen is shut so you can still use the HVAC controls. plus it's the best looking, video wise, i've ever seen and i've seen some high dollar ones like eclipse's.

If you want to relocate the HVAC stuff, why not upgrade? I have been looking into using the electronic climate controls from a 3KGT VR-4. Seems to be possible, but it seems to have it's own ECU. I am not sure about the mechanical linkages. I am still researching this though. -=B-=

Ahhh man, just leave the a/c controls where they are, in the center console would murder the style.
but I want a DVD player in my car, so I can watch porn's on my hour and a half way home from work @ 2am....
