Hes getting hood pins first thing tomorrow. It has a latch but you can never trust aftermarket hood latches. I will let you know if anything comes up. deals that is:)

Yes very nice hood! I concur about the hood pins...even though I like the way the cf hoods look without pins...have had to many friends have them fly up to not rock them.

If you don't mind me asking how he got that hood so cheap?

not to argue or have a big fight ensue, but i dont deem hood pins necessary with that hood, had mine for over almost a year, no shaking or moving at all...only done 115 with it on but still. The venting helps and ViS makes good shit. Nice looking hood though, my personal favorite

i agree i would just spend the extra money and get the pins to be on the safe side. i saw the pics of Evans car after it happened, and it would be alot cheaper and safer to have the pins.

every hood is different regardless of what company makes it. granted, VIS is a well known company and i have always heard that they make quality pieces but that doesnt mean that of all the hoods they produce on a yearly basis, not a single one has any fault in it. i guess its just me but i wouldnt want to invest 500 or so bucks into a nice carbon fiber hood only to have the hood latch snap and the hood fly back into my windshield all because i didnt want to shell out the 20 or 30 bucks for a set of hood pins. just ask siueclipse or bucknutty for some pics of when their hoods flew up and let me know if those dont change your mind.

edit--i realize i may have sounded like an ass in the above comment so i am going to say right now, that was not my intention.

not only can the hood fly up and hit your windshield, but imagine what that quick scare could cause you to do after it hits your windshield. Imagine it fly up and scare the shit out of you while your on the interstate doing about 75 and it causes you to swerve into another car! Could cause more then a broken windshield that that point.

Get hood pins...there is no debate...its necessary. Seems everyone has a story of a friend of experience of a CF hod flying up. I warned my buddy and he didn't listen...hood flew up busted the windshield and cracked the hood in a few places...

They cost like...15 dollars and are easy to install...and they don't even look half bad. Everyone getum :)

GET MAFUGGIN HOOD PINS!!!!111!!

its happened a few tiems where a hood has flown up and bent the framing around the windshield. That will total your car in a heartbeat, since you can't put another windshield back in. Just get the pins IMO. Trust me, mine flew up twice before i get em.

dont deem all you want, but the fact of the matter is that the number of people who HAVE had catastropic results from an aftermarket hood flying up is far greater than those have not.

continue to not deem it necessary...but i think id rather spend $20 on some added insurance rather than trashing a $400 hood, a windshield, roofline. that all thats assuming you dont end up in a wreck. you can take the risk of all that, but advising others to take that same risk is not advisable. your free to make your own decision, abiet its been proven more often than not to be a bad one...but dont put someone else in jeapordy because of "your" beliefs or opinions.

Well here the short story on how we got it so cheap. This guy bought his son a 95 eclipse that came with this hood on it about 2 years ago. The kid didnt like it, so he and his dad took it off, well they put it up in the garage and stored it for about a year. Well about 2 weeks ago i was looking in a local trading post and saw the ad c/f hood for 100obo. So i called the guy and he told me and the hubby, that if we came and picked it up he would take 75 for it. So we went over there and looked at it and for being stored for a year or so, its in perfect condition. The kids dad(around 55ish) told us he didnt know how much they went for, but he just wanted it gone. So we took it off his hands:)

Hood pins are being installed tomorrow!
