90466, New and Improved widebody bumper! Posted by eclipse982nrRST, Nov-05-05 02:34 PM
Well, after some down time from the semi-truck tire, I decided to go ahead and fix/paint my front bumper myself this time. I have to say I love how it came out, absolutely flawless. I connected the two end pieces on the front bumper so now it kind of looks like a drift bumper. Here are pics from the process it went through:
Here is the mold I made to used when I glued/riveted it down to the bumper. How did I make the mold you might ask? I got some 2" foam from a local fabric store and cut it out how I wanted the design. I then layed 5 layers of 1.5oz fiberglass chopmatt over the foam, then took some laquer thinner and poured it over the foam when the fiberglass was hard and it melted the foam away. This was a super ass strong mold, I literally put all of my weight about 175 pounds and stood on top of it, it didnt even budge. http://imageshack.us> > Here the first layer of filler was added. This is a product made by U-POL, its flexible urethane filler. http://imageshack.us> > First coat all sanded down. http://imageshack.us> > Last coat of putty. This is SEM flexible poly-urethane filler. http://imageshack.us> > The rest of the bumper all sanded down and ready for primer. http://imageshack.us> > Heres my supply. http://imageshack.us> > Primered up. http://imageshack.us> > Wetsanded and ready for base coat. http://imageshack.us> > House of Kolor white base coat layed down. http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > Now the fun, House of Kolor Limetime pearl color! http://imageshack.us> > 5 Coats of color. http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > All cleared and ready to dry! http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > Dried up and looking great. You can see the yellow pearl and rainbow flake a little bit in these pics. http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > http://imageshack.us> > Waiting a few more days until i bolt her back on, but she looks like she will look nice with the turbo setup. For pics of that new setup, check the turbo section tonight :) http://imageshack.us> >
So, what do you guys think? Better or should I have left it how it was?

Still looks nice. Man, I wish I knew how to do bodywork or even have the resources to do that. Good job.

I love it, its thick and does not chip easily at all. I like it better than the HOK Clear I used before actually.
