90330, Weather Strip Above Door?
Posted by Ryan97EclipseRS, Oct-28-05 11:11 AM
Does anyone know how to remove these? the black rubber is flaking really badly and I need to paint them or something. I can't figure the clips out for the life of me. They are the parts that the windows roll up into at the top of the door on the frame. TIA!

on the ends of the weatherstrip in the door jamb you will have push in plastic anchors. lift them with a small screwdriver or trim removal tool. the weatherstrip will just pull out of the actual jamb it sits in. Once you have the rubber out, you will see the screws that hold the drip rails in. the drip rails are the part you are referring to with flaking black coat on them.

Has anyone priced these "drip rails"? I'm guessing it's dealer-only. Wouldn't mind a set of fresh ones myself.

When I went they quoted me 200 dollars....it came with the weatherstripping set. The guy was a moron though so it couldve been the wrong thing.
I already gave up, I popped out 3 plastic screws and tried to pull the rubber up but it was being a PITA. Without pics I have no clue what I'm doing and I'm just gunna break the stripping and be out 200 bucks heh. Thanks anyways

the weather stripping might be glued, just gently pull it up, it will come out fine. Someone here priced the drip rails at 40.00 each if i recall. Do a search and see what turns up.

Did I take out the correct screws? There are 3 little black screw on the "rear" end and 1 on the front. Little push in screw thingies.

yes, there is one more hidden just above where the front one was. you can gently pull out on the weatherstrip, the hidden anchor will pull out of the weatherstrip without damaging it. then just pull on the weatherstrip over the door and it will come out, it just pushes in and is held by pressure.

I was going to on mine once upon a time. I am sure you can but you would want to strip the black coating off and prep the stainless steel underneath.

Mines was peeling pretty bad too so I replaced it with some black vinyl strips that I picked up from the arts and crafts store. It's been over a year and it hasn't come off yet.

Is this the peice that goes on the window?

I believe that is for the windshield. I did some searching in the past and it seems like the dealer is like 60-80 dollars for a pair (driver and passenger) and then if you want to replace the stripping around the base of the window, its about the same price as well. I need to break down and get mine replaced too, mine is actually rusting and water leaks in when it rains, lol

I'm thinking about painting mine too. Dealer part numbers are MB914055 and MB914056. 055 is $40.25 and 056 is $39.45 from Fenton Chrysler.

Sorry, I know this is a month ago thread but I thought that I can update for everyone. You can get them for $27 each at: http://www.trademotion.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=213934
Just use the same part numbers given by Corbin.

I plan on having all mine replaced when I get my car repainted. I will just strip it all before it goes in for paint...even our tiny little rear side windows. Those are getting bad too. The metal is showing though on my weather stripping.

cant be the second one. There are actually 2 pieces there. The outer piece is the one that holdes the weather strip. I think that one is #7.
