im going to be upholstering my interior once my basic engine mods are done, and the dent i have is fixed,97-99 front conversion finihed, car repainted and spoiler installed (last four will be done toghether). i had always thought of leather but i can afford it, so i went with vinyl. i car is red, windows are tinted black. my interior is grey, so i wanted to "link" the interior with the exterior by usig red vinyl, and painting some sections of the dash and door panels red, or puting red vinyl on them as well. so the interior will be red and grey vinyl. do you guys thing ir will look "ricer"? personally i think it wil look crazy sexy and sophisticated, but just wanted some outside feedback, ill post some rudimentary design outlines for u to see ina couple of mins

i know it will get hot in the car when it sunny, but i only use my car early in the mornin for school, and late at night to get home, so no biggie, and if i do use it when its hot, o well, thats the price i pay for good looks.

I think your interior will be loud as heck. Are you going to go back and accent anything else with red or just do the seats? Props if you do it though and don't let me discourage you. I was thinking about going with a two tone black and grey on my seats at some point in the future after I finish my how-to for the sun visors and get those finished and reinstalled into the car.

X3. it may not be as bad if you switch around the red and grey. put the red in the middle of the seats and the grey on the outside and the back. wouldnt be as "loud" then.

well as i said this WILL be done, and yea ill accent by addint vinyl to the door inserts (red) and some parts of the dash (vents etc) aswell as the tweeters ontop of the dash, i was just hoping some one would like it, but i guess im all alone on this, but yea it will be "loud" but it will definetly b unique. personnaly i dont think it would be LOUD, maybe a lil "provocative" or exotic but not to the point tht its bad taste or ricer right? just keep em coming boys!

I don't think it will be ugly by any means. I think it could look good if you take the time to do it right. Red just seems as though it would dominate the cab of the car. After redoing my headliner in black I can't see why I let the darn thing hang down so long before replacing it. It toned downed the interior a good deal making it much easier to drive during the night.

I personally think it will look really busy and not really have the final look you have pictured in your mind. I think your term was ricey...yes it would look ricey. Especially if you used spray paint your interior trim panels instead of having them professionally painted with the same color car paint and clear you have on your car. But I would not paint them I would leave them plain.

I would say maybe do the whole interior grey, black, or a combo of grey and black, you know something neutral that will go with anything. Then just go with red seats as the only red part of the interior. Just my 2 cents.

Do they just stitch that on the existing seats? Who does it and around what does it cost?

I agree on making things look a bit on the busy side. Red is going to make the interior of your car feel tiny. I used silver on grey (and used the wrong paint, which is flaking and peeling like ass) and you can see it's a bit busy itself. I'd say, do the easy stuff (the trim) first, and then look at the big picture before you address the seating surfaces.

Haha, you're not alone. I've been using this name for years and everyone always think that for some reason.

here is a red and c/f that i did mine in to give you an idea, i love it, i had red and black before the opposite way, like everyone does, both look good but these stand out, but when i put these in i went back to a mostly black dash minus the underside because yes it was way too much, here is a pic before i put the headrests back on (which are black), only differnce between this and your idea is the top section on the backrest (front side) i did black to tone it down some, the backs are all red, and the front bolsters are red, with red stitching in the black areas.

man that ^^^ is crazy sexy out of my mind, no worries boys all will be done professionally AND for free except for the materials. my best friends dad does upholstery for the rich and famous here in south cali, works on million dollar yatchs and collectible cars, mainly for exclusive yatch clubs around san diego, shelter and coronado island. that said i have no wories about it comming badly. atleast i think ONE person kinda likes my idea, and like most 2gnters say, "Its your car make it look however you want!" and i will , i guess i was just looking for a lil "support" (is that the word im looking for?) i kinda understand the part of looking busy, but I will be happy, no one else rides my car, no gf(no wonder i have SOME money eh? , parents dont drive stick, plus i dont let any one else drive my car.:order . well that said i was thinking about a DVD system or something, my goal is not to make this not a "crazy fast car" but more like a "luxury Eclipse" if thats even possible. i want it to be comfy, a place to chill. now to the point, DVD systems are way too expensive and only serve one purpose so i want to put some PSPs one the back of the head rests, and maybe one on the copilots vanity mirror thing, heres what im thinking of, ill produce some contraption that holds the PSPs and attaches to the 2 metals bars that hold the head rest on the seat:

psp are serious man . thats some stupid pimp my ride shit . thats ;ike mounting a gameboy to your car . for what . i dont mean to sound harsh but thats really bad . the red seats will look good tho as long as the red on the seats are almost the same color as your car . i hate when all the paint looks sharp and the seats look faded .

any ways, yes the seats WILL match my car color as closely as possible, and being that the red is not as bright as most people would imagine, it wount really stand out too much ^^

Personally I think red interior is way too loud for my tastes (no offense to anyone with red interior, just my opinion). How about doing a grey and black interior with some red accenting. Like grey and black seats with red stitching and a black shift boot with red stitching. Just minor stuff. Personally I think it'd look a lot cleaner. But hey, it's whatever you like.

How about you do it all black, and then stick a set of red Recaros up front. That would look far better then any reupholstered stock seat could ever look, just because of name power alone.

lol, not in my book it wouldnt, sorry if i sound harsh, i didnt mean to. but my idea is pretty much final about upholstering atleast, since its going to be free except for the materials, which i am getting at a very low price, plus black is pretty mch out of the question, i would do it if my dashbord was black, but since its grey, i want to gave some grey, and dont want to have more than 3 colors in the interior so its et to grey and ???. Red is mostlikely gona be it. but id like to hear maybe some design ideas regardless of what colors ude prefer, just to improve on what i have already.
