They called me and said they would give me a $12,000 co-op for a 12 month contract. Offering 55% off parts. It requires I sport 2 5x7 inch stickers and go to 4 shows in the 12 months. No set amount of money that I have to spend on parts. What gives?? Sounds too good to be true. There is an $80 underwriter fee that is all.

The intriguing part. They can get Hahn parts. 55% off a hahn kit sound good!

are you sure its not they can get up to 55% off b/c they might be able to get that for like one thing and then 10% for the rest of the shit which you can then find cheaper almost anywhere else

lol yeah, sad to say I have 2 full sponsorships on parts that will never see my car again and 7 other tsudo sponorships with the vast discounts. Nothing I'm really into or really want to do to my car, if it was say performance related I would of been happier. But it does help to have them in your portfolio to approach other companys with the stuff your looking for :) and worth the 80

ive heard nothing but bad about those kinds of companies. but then, why should you have to pay to get sponsored? isnt the company supposed to be giving you the parts in exchange for promotion of their company? there shouldnt be any money involved on your part.

Just like anything thing else nowadays you need to be bound by a legal contract to represent the said company through a predetermined amount of time and also follwing the companys terms of conduct while using said parts. Which is what the money is used for.

I think that is very cheap considering a good laywer would charge you 3 x's that for each seperate contract.

If I have time later I will black out the names and whatnot of one of my 10 page contracts to give you an idea of the amount of work thats involved in signing to one of these companys. Its just not saying "hey Im joe schmoe give me free shit". And on the discounted (tsudo) sponsorships that statement really is applied here also, prove your worth the money so to speak. Its alot of work to be "proven" for free shit. You have to show what you've done with what they have offered.

well as long as the money you pay is just for the legal documents needed and not just a scam for them to make money and never give you anything for it, it may be worth checking out.

Let me ask you this...what do you want or need to get sponsored for?

Do you enter your car in a lot of Big car shows...when I say big I mean NOPI, HIN, Super Tuner Show, Techademics...etc

If you don't then its really not worht your time or money...since if you figure it out each show is about $50 to $100 to enter your car. Then you have to consider the gas/food/hotel for that weekend as well...because all shows will be out of towners...trust me!

I spend approximately $250 to $500 per show, depending on the show and distance of the show with all the extras I listed above with the show entry included. So you can figure out the math for 4 shows. Now ask yourself is it still worth your time and money?


Its actually more of a hassle if you don't show your car in a lot of big shows already. There is a lot of fine print on some sponsors...like tire sponsors for instance...you have to give those tires back after that years show season so they can analize the tires for their "We want to make a better tire" study.

Honestly, only a handful of sponsors are worth it. I do Meguiar's because all I have to do is send them a new portfolio every year and put a meguiars decal on my car and attend 6 major shows representing Meguiars products, which I attend over 20 shows a year anyways. Plus they send me 4 cases of all their newest/latest products. I give away their products at shows I have so many.

So its all convienence with what you want out of a sponsor. Figure out what you really want to do with your car and look into the sponsors that suit your needs in every aspect of their contracts.

I signed up like a year ago because I wanted the free video they were offering. Got a call back and offered the same deal as you. I was so excited and wanted to do it, but I did some research (Google) and came up with a bunch of forums talking about it and every single one said it was a scam. Never even got the video lol.
