I am thinking about re-doing the interior of my talon. I have been told to use SEM, its like a vinal dye and I have heard that it works the best. I need some advice about the other pannel. like the door handles, the plastic around the stereo. What should i use for this as I am trying to get a gun-metal on black look ( i will attempt to post pic) I figure you guys would have experience and ideas. Also do i need to sand or prime??

no no thats what i WANT it to look like (but the white parts being a gun metal colour) it is all grey right now

Just scuff everything you're painting up with 320 grit sand paper, wipe it down with rubbing alcohol and go to town. The Graphite wheel paint from duplicolor looks great (just a suggestion)

the way I did my SEM products is this. (same for vinl and plastic)
1. use dishsoap
2. rinse
3. blow dry
4. SEM soap
5. rinse
6. blow dry
7. vynl prep(SEM)
8. whipe off whith a clean cloth
9. adhesion promoter (SEM) 10 min then repeat
10. 5 mins after last Adhesion promoter coat, apply color coat
11. if a second color coat is needed apply one more adhesion promoter wait 10 mins then color again.


use the adhesion promoter very delicatly, you want to spray above your surface and let it fall. Im not an expert but these are the exact steps given to me by a local vynl shop and my dash turned out great and has stood up to alot of abuse so far.

If you don't want your carpet to look like ass don't dye it. Trust me it will not look good. Go ahead and pay a little extra for a new one. If I remember the site I think it was accmats.com. Go there and thank me later. =)

ACCmats is correct. I have the black carpet with the optional trunk carpet. It looks great and cost me $168 and a little bit of my time to install.
