I tried out this stuff on my hatch cover and liked it so much i sprayed the trunk carpet and a couple other things. The pix don't show exactly how nice it looks it looks darker in person and everything looks brand new, the only problem i had was that it takes a lot of the stuff to make it look nice

looks real good man. my only question is after it dries, is there any kind of residue left. thats probably not the right wording for what im tryin to say, i mean if i was to do my seats with it and i sat in them with khaki's on would any transfer to my pants? or does it work that well?

it dries really quick and doesn't seem to bleed at all, idk how it is if it gets wet, but it does feel a little different when you touch it kind of rougher i guess, idk if i would do the seats with it, maybe the back seats as a test

if you do decide to do any seats let me know how it turns out. my back seat gone thrown away a long time ago. i rescued the car from a ricer kid, didnt seal the stock 3 piece wing holes up right and had a bad water leak, so the seats and carpet got moldy and i threw them out. anyways im rambling, let me know if you decide to test on seats, or if anyone who reads this has done it lmk. TIA.

I used the same duplicolor interior spray on my hatch cover...seeing as my car didnt come with one...I bought mine at a junkyard and it was gray so I duplicolored it tan...looks awesome

I have done my back seat before and the floor mats and it seemed to rub off, But that was a while back maybe the quality has gone up since then.

That looks real good man, great work. I wouldn't want to use it on my seats or floormats because those areas got a lot of rubbing and that would make it flake off IMO. The hatch cover and back carpet aren't high traffic areas (atleast for me) so those wouldn't be a problem to do and keep nice looking.

as for spraying your seats.......wait till it's a 90* day and your ass is sweating like crazy......then it will bleed onto your clothes :P

yeah i kinda figured it wouldnt be that great for the seats, but im looking for a low cost way to get black seats. im in the process of changing my tan interior over to black/gray and dont really have the money to buy new seats. oh well, ill figure something out. maybe i can find a decent set in a junk yard or something.

Seat Covers. I got some at pepboys for 30 dollars, and it came with a back seat cover to.

covers usually look cheesy, and they almost never fit right, they get all bunched up and shit. but they are low cost, so i might just have to deal til i can afford seats. i found a set on ebay that would only be like 260 shipped, and i think they were RalliArt's.

You can color the cloth seats with that stuff. I painted the centers of my old cloth seats black. I cleaned everything with alcohol to make sure the dye would stick. After it was dry, I roughed it up with an old t-shirt. That pulled off all the loose dye. After that, it was stable for a couple years. Never rubbed off on khakis. I eventually tossed it all for a used leather set, but it was fine for what I needed at the time.

How did you keep the black from getting on the rest of the seat when you sprayed the paint.

I masked it off with tape and paper, just like I was painting something. If you get the tape right down into the seam, it works. I caught some strange stares while painting car seats on the sidewalk in front of my apartment, but it was worth it.

I am in the middle of going completely black interior and it's looking badass so far. I have the dash done, my entire driver side door panel, carpet, trunk, hatch trim, rear hatch cover middle console and lid. Here's what I used, SEM soap, SEM vinyl or plastic prep, SEM sand free, and then SEM satin black color, for carpet, I used the Duplicolor flat black, it works great for fabric, I'm not too sure about vinyl though, just be sure to brush the carpet after each coat with a stiff nylon brush. I'll tell you what, I never expected that it would turn out this awesome looking. I didn't think it was going to work very good, but when I let it dry, I couldn't even scratch the shit off, it finally did a little with a knife. (< a knife) I will soon post pics when I get it all finished and get my digi cam working again.

Just used this stuff to redo my whole trunk. And I will vouch for this being great.. Does'nt look like it will chip, dried very fast. Texture is rough a little bit but Excellent!

I love Dupli color anything! It's a weekend warrior's best friend.

I am painting my charge piping with the duplicolor high gloss engine block paint and it looks awesome.

Hell yeah. I did my dash, doors, and airbag covers using the SEM products. Very very cool.

I figure since I cant stop fixing the damn thing, I'll just create more problems to work on. :) The stock pile has begun. Parts PArts PARts PARTs PARTS!!!

2 years later your entire interior and dash are going to look all chipped and scratched and little flakes of paint are going to be all inside the car, in your hair, seats, floors etc.

Just like mine did. I need to redo all of mine or do something different.

Well, my buddy used SEM and it's been there for 4 years now and not a problem except for the occasional drop of something to scuff the dash or so, but that would hurt it reguardless of being painted or not. It all depends on how well you take care of it. A dash won't last forever, it will start to crack and wear out eventually, but you can do your best to take care of it so it will last a hell of a lot longer. I figure if I put this much time into doing all of this, taking very good care of it should be quite easy in my eyes, and anyone else who plans on painting interior should feel the same, of get ready for a snow storm of paint chips in your car. My friends car still looks like it was never painted, and like I said, it's been 4 years.
