Those of you that have bought HID kits; do they offer a connection harness to our car or is there always splicing involved with HID's? Just wanted to know since I will possibly buy an entire retro-fit kit coming off an M3. Basically i'm getting the factory HID bulbs,ballasts/projectors of the BMW, but if there isn't splicing required with new HID kits, i'll just buy the HID's new separately with harness if available. thanks.

umm yea there's splicing. that's why it's called a retro-fit. there's also molding and drilling and other fun stuff. you have a mitusbishi wiring harness connecting your headlight housing to the car. inside the housings are 9005/9006 plugs for 9005/9006 bubls. i seriously doubt any retro-fit off of ANY car would ever be plug and play. HID kits are only plug and play because they plug in to the bulb socket (9005/9006 in our case). the HID off some other car would have whatever custom connectors that particular car/model uses in their wiring harnesses.

btw you realize HID kits are just bulbs and ballasts, right? as in no projector lense. i sported one for a while and it looks neat but obviously our reflector housings were never made to hold HID's. if you're gonna buy a kit you should probably AT LEAST buy a cheap projector headlight off ebay or somethin too.

cool, thanks. Yes i know hid's is just bulb and ballast. I'm getting the projectors off a bimmer, but yea i guess harness is just avaialbe for the 9006 size bulb; makes sense. Guess i'll just buy the whole thing off the bimmer. thanks.
