8768, Domelight size question Posted by Ryan_Hes, Nov-20-01 03:23 PM
I ordered a set of blue domelight bulbs from lightlens.com. They sent me the incorrect length bulbs, and sent me 36mm bulbs. Our normal bulbs are 28mm. I have e-mailed them twice, and no response.
I attempted to put the bigger domelight bulbs in and of course they dont fit, however they do work and do illuminate. Inside the domelight housing there is a metal plate 'against the wall' and a metal prong coming out which holds the bulb. If I could alter this prong coming out to be a few mm longer, the bulb would work. The prong in not long enough to bend back enough to fit the bulb in.
Question: How could I make the bulb be touching the prong and the wall at the same time and be held sturdely in its place. Tape will melt the bulbs get very hot.
There is no solid answer, it will take some ingenuity and imagination, but please help. Check inside there and let me know if you have any ideas.

I would buy the right sized bulbs probably. I actually got mine at a khnekts autoparts store. THey were like 10 for the dome lights, and 6 for the ones down on the floor. I went blue all around.

I don't believe they make the hyperwhite bulbs in our exact size, what I did was buy one size smaller, and just pinched down those clips till they hold it in place. they've worked for like 4 months so far with no problems...
