ok...i got custom blue/red guages to go over top my stock silver ones. Im semi-to-really retarded when it comes to electronical shit in my car so i had no idea where to wire them to. I wound up just wireing them up to the fuse box near the clutch to an auxilary fuse. So they come on whenever the car is on, which i hate but was too lazy to figure shit out before. Recently my cigarette lighter and my gauges STOPED lighting and working. My gauges themselve work, but they dont light up, i have no idea what happend. My cigarette lighter doesnt work at all (i use it for a phone charger and my radar detector).
So im thinking of taking the gauges out and re wireing them. But i need to know where to wire them too....please help

Sounds like you just blew the cig fuse. Happened to me all the time until I put a bigger fuse in. Replace the blue 15 amp cig fuse under the dash. I think its like the fourth in from the right on the bottom row. I may be off a bit though. Theres a handy "map" printed on the fuse cover

ummmm no. the fuse is there for a reason. it limits the amperage to what the wiring can handle. if you put a bigger fuse in guess what? you are now running more amperage than the wires were intended for. do you know what happens when excessive current is run through a wire? it heats up, melts the insulation, and often starts a fire. electrical fires in cars are bad.

you can put a bigger fuse in if you like but don't be surprised when your car catches on fire.

He does have a good point. There are a few people on this board that have gauges and pillar gauges all hooked up to the cig at once with no problems. But, If you look at the wiring at the cig it is rather thin.

Check it.

as far as diagnosing what went wrong with the cig. first check the fuse. if that's good then you have the joyous task of checking ALL your wiring. if excessive current was being pulled through the cig wires there's a good chance a wire melted and shorted out.
