86909, The inevitable bad oem clearcoat on the sideskirts post

I figured I would ask, seeing as how I already searched and every silver 2g I see has the clearcoat wearing off the sideskirts.
Has anyone tried the AutoScratch touch-up paints? Because the color code listed ON my car (metallic silver) indicates code A5 and AutoScratch has an A52 listed for our car but the color they show doesn't look right. They show an A74 that looks perfect, but they say to go by the code and not the color they have on the website. Does that extra number (i.e. the 2 in A52) mean anything?
Beyond that, will I need to sand, prime, paint and clearcoat with this stuff? I plan on doing the work myself, and I have access to a compressor, so would I be better off going another route (i.e. color matching from a shop)? Where can I get a small quantity of color-matched paint in the Northern NJ/Metro Area for a fair price?
And why do these damned sideskirt paint jobs wear out before the rest of the car?

YES! I have 2 silver eclipses, both the same exact thing, the shitty part about it is I have no been able to find a touch up spray can or anything for the silver. I didnt try the dealership yet but as of right now I know exactly what your talking about. I searched for it as well. You COULD go to an autobody shop, have them mix it for you and you spray it yourself with a gun, which isnt that hard.

Your paint code is #A52, Silver minden pearl. I can get you as many cans of that code in a spray paint can for $25 per can, exact match.

You rock!!! Hit me up with a PM as your price is better than the company's site, my only question is: do I need to get primer and clearcoat too?

PS-Points to you!

Usually on those spray cans they put the clear coat in the paint so you shouldnt need a clear. Thanks ryan, il have to hit you up on that!

i get my spray cans from a local auto paint supply store. About $20ish each- just color. No clear in the paint, so you would have to buy the clear. So i'm not sure if those come with clearcoat in them.

Our silver cars has clear coat mixed in. It's not painted then cleared IIRC.
