i did some searching on this topic and didn't find too much so i decided to post. my friend has a honda accord and he likes to harass me about my eclipse. he always talks about how its a girl car and makes it his personal mission to make everyone else say the same thing. even tho his car is a grandma car/grocery getter and i smoke him everytime we race, he likes to keep it up. so my question is: would we really consider our cars "girl cars"? lets get a bunch of opinions about this one.

why should the girls have all the fun? its no more a girls car than a guy however most guys would opt for the turbo which is the main goal of this site. our cars are stow but looks make up for the slowness. i believe these cars could have been made alot quicker however mitsu decided to beef up the friggin lancer instead?? maybe the eclipse looked so darn good they didnt want it going to fast cause than people couldnt look at it! i say its a matter of opinion and if your happy with your eclipse than who gives a shyt what some honda drivin fool thinks?

Stock: Yes, it's a girls car. Mine came with a scrunchi around the shifter.

Modified: Its whatever you made it into. I personally don't think my car is very girly anymore.

I have the purple people eater and a stock black 99 with no intentsions right now of modifying it. Perhaps sometime in the future when I feel ambitous I'll slap a stage 1 kit on it, but the boost bug bit me so its prolly not a good idea. LOL

Screw his girlfriend in the back of your Eclipse IMO. He stops making fun of you cause you nailed his girlfriend, you get props for the crazy amount of contortionism that it takes to screw in the back of these cars, and you really won't have have to listen to any of his shit again cause he won't come around anymore.

Actually this is a self-defense mechanism, it's to compensate for an inner lack of self-worth that he has for himself. Is he a rich kid (under the age of 19 with stupid amounts of money that his father gives him to compensate for not being there, EVER) cause if he is then this makes a lot of sense and he wont change for quite a while till he reaches a type of enlightenment that you can't help him attain. He probably uses girls too, the type of asshole that you probably don't really want as a friend and ought to consider writing off altogether. But if he is a richboy and your car is faster than his then you ought to race him for money and laugh at him when he loses, and call him a pig-fucker, then write him off.

Yea MKIV Supra. I'll be importing one from the states just like the Eclipse. I'm expecting to spend around 25 grand for a decent 5 speed n/a. Then I can do the single turbo setup :D

As for our cars being girly, they attract girls is what I meant. I have yet to meet a girl that doesn't like my car. haha. I get compliments all the time...

I think he's just confused. I mean, these cars are women in just about any comparison you might decide to attempt. They are curvy and sensual in their exterior design. The cockpit is designed in such a manner that the driver has easy access to any control he might require without having to look for it. The engines are competent in stock form and can be massaged to be some of the most powerful and capable powerplants on the street. They like to dance. They like to sing. They look pretty. If you're into ther smell of exhaust and motor oil, they even smell good. Don't treat them well and they will express their dissatisfaction with you in terms of maintenance issues and poor performance. Take care of these ladies, show them the respect and attention they deserve, and they will be there to support you when it matters most. Just as with any relationship, when the day is done, what you receive is the sum of what you took out from what you put in.

So a DSM is a girl (car). The question is, what kind of girl? haha u guys make a lot of good points on this. my friend is 18 and his mom and his dad are seperated. he lives with his mom and his dad bought him that car when he was living with him. i just think it is funny because b4 he even had his first car the eclipse was one of his "dream cars" haha. he got his accord later and talked it up a lot and then i finally got my eclipse about 2-3 months later. first day i got it i told him we were going to race (he obviously said yes because he had mods). we line them up and i smoke him on a little 1/8th mile place. he said he wanted to race on the highway then so i said ok and we lined them up again and i smoked him yet again. ever since then i have beaten him in a race except for one time when the roads were a little wet and i couldnt get any traction and he got the holeshot.

right now i just make fun of him back because he drives a 4 door slow car and he got into a couple accidents so his front end is fucked up. no bumper at all.

as far as only girls driving eclipses, in my home town, that was the thought. but when i started wrenching on my car...people hearing the deep rumble, there were 4 guys i know of that bought their eclipse as a direct result of riding in and looking around at mine. it went from " eclipses are girly" to "damn, your car is hot!"

I agree with the "attract girls" comment. My friend and i cruise in my 99 gs and we get all the attention from the girls that drive eclipses. Girls like a guy who agrees with them, if you have similar taste in cars then thats 1 point for us and no date for him.
