86360, Seat opinions..... Posted by Nitrous_RS1997, Jun-18-05 08:00 PM
I'm pretty damn clueless when it comes to interior/exterior mods....but my stock cloth seats are uncomfortable as hell, and id like to get some "race" seats. i dont give a crap what brand they are....id just like em to be descently comfy, and hold ya in the turns. dont need any 6-700 dollar Bride seats or anything....just something that gets the job done, and hopefully matches my black/silver interior. not lookin to waste more than around 200 or so per seat. Any suggestions?

If your cheapin out on seats.. just hope you never get in an accident. Good seats are expensive for a reason and cheap seats are well just that.. cheap. With the wrong seat a collision could go from minor fender bender to the seat folding over and slamming your face into the steering wheel and braking your face apart. It's your call. When it comes to safety and things I DO NOT condone cutting corners.

Bingo.
Get some GSX seats. They have adjustable bolsters and are rather nice. I have them in my car.

Agreed. Also the seats out of a Jetta GLX VR6 are comfy and with nice bolsters as well. I doubt they'd fit, but eh you could prolly cook something up. I forget which generation Jetta, but it was the boxy type, like mid 90's...ugh whatever im at work and completely burned out

If your looking for something nice the seats out of a 01'+ Celica GT-S have been known to hold up quite well in g-forces and I must say they look quite nice. (i've never sat in them so i can't vouch for comfort) Good luck finding a set though, it's tough!

If the seat folds over and slams your face into the steering wheel then a seatbelt wasn't in use and in that case your face will hit the wheel regardless of what seat is in the car. However in the case of being rear ended the seat back could break and go from _/ to _ __ and maybe you could get hurt somehow then...

umm i don't know about you but even though the seatbelts are "supposed" to tighten when braking they rarely do. When getting slammed in an accident i highly doudt they will come thru and actually work.

yeah, but think about the seat slamming forward when your belt tightens...I see injurys involved there also. You get what you pay for and you definately don't want to end up seriousely hurt/dead. Research seats before you buy any of them, find out what they are approved for and compare the safety of them with the price before purchasing, just my .02

lol, the back of the seat weighs how much? and its padded. doubt it will do anything, and I guess i have a super sensitive seatbelt locking mechanism because it is constantly locking on me whenever I have to reach something in the passenger floor board, or when i am trying to put it on and it will lock half way to the belt latch... its so damn frustrating.

Uh.... i wasnt trying to "cut corners"...i just think its ridiculous to spend 800 dollars a piece on seats, period. I could afford to if i wanted to, i just dont. Thanks for the help/opinions though.

The cheap seats break backwards when you get rear ended. Your seatbelt isn't going to do shit for you then.
