84795, power window help Posted by 1995talon, May-07-05 08:06 AM
ok im installing a spal window kit with stock switchs.\
i now have both drivers and pass side working BUT now my prob is there is only 3 wires left(2 brown and 1 black)and all go to the door locks,so the only way to have the drivers switch run the pass window is to hook it up to the same wires that the pass switch uses to run the motor.
i hooked both drivers and pass switchs up to the same wires but the window goes VERY SLOW and draws ALOT of power usein either of the switchs, unhook the drivers side and everything is fine.
so it must be causein a short at the drivers switch(putin power IN where power comes OUT) but how can i fix this?i need something that will let power from the drivers switch thur to the pass switch when needed but not let any power from the pass switch run into the drivers.. _______________________________________ Parts im Looking for.

umm... what?
can you explain your setup a little more thoroughly? what kinda switches are you using? where are those extra 3 wires from? how are you wiring your window switches (3 switch vs 2 switch). can't help you without more info. window motors are very simple. one wire gets power, the other gets ground and the motor moves. reverse the polarity the and motor changes direction. not much to it besides that.
*edit* ok read your other thread and now i'm more confused. please clarify your setup.
i hope you're not tapping spal motors directly into stock switches. i believe the stock system is a (+) trigger system. spal motors are made for a rest at ground system. (or i suppose you could use a rest at +12v but that's probably not a good idea for obvious reasons).

i dont know why your so confused.yes im usein stock window switches with spal motor a few ppl have done it and mine are workin great but my prob is that i cant use the pass side window controll on the drivers switch because when i do the pass side window gets very slow and dims all the lights alot..
if you would have read my post you would see that i said im usein stock switches bro..

k but isn't the stock switches a postive trigger system? that doesn't wire right up to a reverse polarity motor like the spal kit... if it's a positive trigger system then you use a pair of relays with each motor to convert the signal. judging by your post i'm not sure you're gonna understand what i'm asking...
can anyone clarify how the stock window switches are setup? i swear it was + trigger like the locks... from your other posts it sure as hell sounds like it too. that's why you can only get one 'direciton' to work at a time. you cannot connect either lead from the spal motor to a constant ground. if you did then there's your problem.
if that's the case the simplest solution i can think of is to use two relays on each motor to make the leads rest at ground. then use the positive signal to trigger the relay and send power to the appropriate lead while the other remains at ground, thus completing the circuit. understand, bro?
not tryna be a dick but it really doesn't sound like you know what you're doing. this is not a simple matter of matching wires. the stock motors work differently from spal motors.

the motors and switchs are both working just fine right now,i have no prob with this setup other then the fact i cant controll the PASS side window with the pass side controll on the drivers side switch.everything is working now up/down on both switches, what you were reading is where i was havin a prob with the pass side switch not rolling the window up,but i fixed that as it was just a 2nd ground that the guy left out in the wiring..

ok i have no idea about window kits my car came with power windows never had to deal with it.... but this thread is starting to get like a british comedy with two people shouting at each other tryin to understand the other so to simplify the question he is trying to ask so everyone understands.... he cant control the passenger window from the drivers side. u know how the drivers side has a switch for the drivers and passengers windows well for some reason on the drivers side, his passenger window button aint workin correctly. ill admit whenever i was readin this post i could see where you got confused with what he was tryin to say. His windows work fine on the drivers side...... and when he rolls them down on the passenger side. HOWEVER his pass button on the drivers side doesnt work. I have no idea how to get to this work bein that ive never messed with it, but I would think maybe you would have to run a wire from the passenger side to the drivers? Good luck either way
