Just wanted to warn you guys of this company. The link below is a post started about Wheelmax and their warranty on their rims. They do offer a 1 year manufacturer's defect warranty HOWEVER!! ...you have to pay for all the shipping fees. I purchased some hyperblack rims and tires from them abt 5 mths ago. I noticed abt 3 weeks ago the finish on them was peeling and chipping off around the lip of all the rims. I got some really good cleaner and protector from a professional car place around here and tried to take care of it but no luck. So I called them up and they said they do cover what is happening to my rims but that i had to pay to ship them out to thim in Miami. Which is 200.00. Then they said the manufacturer will pay to have them shipped from Wheelamx in Miami to their warehouse in Japan (figures) and then they will test them to make sure it wasnt a chemical i used on the rims that made it do that. THEN, if they dont feel it is a manufacturer's defect, I have to pay to have my rims shipped from Japan all the way back here or I dont get them back. If they do feel it is a manufacturer's defect, then they ship them back to Miami where i have to pay to have them shipped back to me-which is another 200.00. Does this seem fair to you? Oh and also...for all of you who live in the north-which i do-salt on the roads IS NOT COVERED under that policy. Which means, if you left your rims on your car for the winter and the finished got messed up, wheelmax will not warranty them. That is what i guess happened to mine. They do have good deals on rims and tires and pretty sweet rims, just wanted you guys to know the "real deal" before you invest.

Well, that sounds normal to me. Maybe a little high priced for shipping, but its normal.

Secondly, I can understand how salt would void your warranty. Its salt for gods sake.

Third, why would you spend tons of money on nice wheels and tires, then drive them in the snow in the first place? Youre asking for trouble.

I have to agree with siueclipse. Why would you keep your expensive rims on during the winter time? You should have used the stock ones instead. If you live in an area with rough winters your supposed to take off your rims during the winter. It's a hassle, but it's the price you have to pay when you want your car looking nice.

200!? I paid $80 to ship my rims/tires from Florida to Massachusetts. Well anyways, instead of paying 200 for shipping I would just pay someone local to powder coat the rims or something :shrug

Yeah I purchased a set of gun-metal rims with polished lip from them before, mine has not started to flake off or anything. But I think it is not worth going through the hassle of sending your wheels back and forth with those guys, their customer service is rude IMO. I would just use the money to have them refinished by someone locally instead of shipping it to Japan if Wheelmax is even saving the truth, I might believe if they say Taiwan.

sounds like most warrantys............they make it a pain or very hard to obtain a refund or replacement. Keeps their profit margins up.
like ^^^^^ said powder coat them. And I think they do more than salt also nowadays......that calcium chlorid added also or whatever......I know it turns my winshield alll kinds of crazy blurry. I must say though my painted stockers made it through 2 winters so far without a chip or flake only 2 are from me being clutzy with my socket.

Yeah I had problems with them even getting my wheels in! I order some wite 17's that were 499, I ended up paying over 700 dollars! Shipping, lug nuts and all that crap, but it turns out they didnt have the 499 ones anymore so they sent me some around 599 and just charged it to my credit card, oh I was pissed! But yeah I'm sure they try to get money back somehow on their stuff, they do offer good deals on alot of stuff I've noticed.

I understand what you mean about taking my rims off for the winter but the point is, when i ordered them, they knew i was in ohio and i asked about the weather conditions and they said if they do mess up within the first year, they will still cover them cuz even if salt gets onto them the finish should be able to withstand it for the first year at least. Also, I had the stock chrome ones on for like 3 winters and they are fine. I would think they would mess up before the aftermarket ones would. But, oh well, i will prob do the powdercoating thing since it would be cheaper than shipping anyway. For some reason, it is only messed up around the lip part too so thats not so bad i guess... but thanks for the input guys. :-)
