83656, Air/Fuel Gauge

I hooked up my gauge correctly but it doesn't turn on. No lights when i turn to ACC.sometimes even after my car is warm but when i drive the lean first red led turns on when i stomp on the pedal(when car is warm)it stays on but then flickers a bit, then i let go of the gas and wot again and it my blinky gauge shows the first lean red led and the 2nd red led starts blinking a little bit. I haven't gotten it to stoick or rich it stays in lean in the first 2 leds and sometimes jumps up to stoich and then back down but majority it stays in the first 2 leds.Whats wrong with my gauge? is it bad? or is my o2 sensor bad and i need a new one?

are you sure you got a good connect to the wire? Also what did you hook the lights to? green/white? did you try turning on the head/running lights.

I'm suppose to hook up to my white with the black stripe i thought or do i try hooking it up to the green and the white to see if my lights turn on then hook it back up to the white and black.

The guage's signal wire goes to the O2 wire on the ECU harness (I forget which it is but it's listed on the 2GNT main site on the ECU pinout page), Ground goes to ground and the last wire goes to a switched 12V power source. It sounds to me like your connections are shit. Did you solder? Did you find a good ground?

Yea what he said^^^ I read what you said backwards thinking you were talking about a backlight.........check your connections

Any of the non painted bolts holding shit up behind your kick panels will be a good ground to use, FYI. I had the same issues with mine but didn't solder my signal or 12V wires and had the same issue you had and then some.

Ok, i will solder my wire to the white w/ black stripe then i'll find a new ground behind my kick panel, but now i have another problem, my check engine is on and my car idles funny, it bobs up and down and my car seems like it wants to die. It's not running at the car's full potential and seems like it sucking up a shat** load of gas.Anybody have this problem? Is it because i tapped into my o2 sensor?

Update*** got my check engine light off and now my car runs perfectly. I soldered my wires up and regrounded the wire. My gauge does not still turn on nor work. All my leds work and everything cause i've seen them turn on when i had it hooked up to the green and white wire(which is totally the wrong wire,i know that)What do you guys think it could be? my o2 or my gauge?

Gauge and/or connections.

the signal wire should be wired to the white with black stripe on the ecu. the power source you should wire to the thick white 12v wire under the steering column, wire the ground to an unpainted bolt. for the lighting, wire the light suorce wire to the green wire with white stripe near the gauge cluster and ground to ground. try all these, if that doesnt work, your gauge is fucked up.

Can't i hook it up to my cigarette lighter? It gives me power and my led does show up..just only in lean and thats if i hold the gas down for a long time then it fades in then i let go of the gas then it fades out then i push the gas and the leds come back on. My check engine is now back on but my car runs fine but the idleing is kinda iffy, when i'm cruising i put it in neutral comming to a stop and my car stays reved up to 2,000 rpms till i come to a complete stop. anybody had this problem?

Could that also be the problem to my gauge? or is my gauge just poop now? My car also hesitates sometimes like its misfiring for a second then goes back to normal when i'm barely pressing on the gas.

Dunno. I ran into that same problem when I had my A/F guage. I troubleshot it to hell and ended up just yanking the guage due to I tried everything else. Viola the car ran like a champ. It could have been the guage but it was more than likely my shitty connections. I could care less though as the guage is completely pointless.

Alright, this is my situation, i disconnected everything from my gauge and now my car runs fine. Now i want my gauge to work because i am runing a nitrous kit and it would be helpfull to have. I took apart my gauge and tested it and it works fine. The only problem is that it doesn't work in my car. All my connections are soldered. Could this be because of my o2 sensor?

that gauge is junky anyway... it won't tell you you are running lean until your burn your pistons.
