83294, some opinions needed "to green or not to green" tough choice here I got...

I got my "damaged" 50 dollar cf hood today, it has chip out of the gel coat on one side (red circle) . an easy fix. I'm kind of in a bind because I was hoping it was messed up bad so I wouldn't feel wrong stripping the gel coat and doing green cf over it. Hrmmmmmm any opinions

no, lol I agree. This green is true in color/depth, with no tint added for that fake color'd look. It will be the actual green cf showing.

And thanks for the replies.......I know I'm going to strip it and green it, just made me question myself a bit is all, for that one small defect. I'll post a sample later of the true way its going to look from a scrap piece I did last week. Looks 100x better than the gb, which is also being redone with a xxxx xxx xxxx xxxxxx. X= a secret till a certain member posts pics of his finished madhatter product next week.

For real man, the idea here wasn't just to get a cf hood. It was to get one and make it different than anyone elses. Keep up with your custom work.

Um yea....... I'm unaware they started making cf in factory matched colors but I'm sure you'll let me know how it turns out :puke regardless of the outcome .......but anyways ....its going to look sweet as hell, I did a few test pieces and its what I wanted it to be all along. A deep emerald green with no fade on the color so no tint additive is needed. My fellow cf'r dj420a and miller 2 fingers resin sniffer gave me some tips on turning a sweet ass finish without compromising the original green cf leaving it intact and showing through the resin the way it was meant to.

If it's going to be a different shade of green than your car, I wouldn't do it. You can't actually tell it's carbon fiber unless you're like 5 feet away, so everybody that see's it, is just going to think you have an off color hood.
