I plan on lowering later with Tokico Illumina struts and Tokcio springs to about 1.5" I would also like to retain ride comfort

With that drop 18"'s will fill the gaps and look better then the 17's and you could go with a 45 instead of a 40 if you wanted a better ride as well as it help fill the huge wheel gaps our cars have.

IMO there's really a difference in ride comfort between 17s and 18s. It's really all in the suspension.

Therefore, 18s :)

I think this depends on how deep your pockets are too...

The pockets are'nt really deep... To be honest I have $1,200 to use for rims and the remaining money I need to use to fix the rear main seal on my tranny. I have been quoted at numerous places that its going to cost $500 to fix that seal... So this puts me back a little bit. I want to spend anywhere from 800-900 for rims, and by the time I have the tranny work done I should have enough extra dough to cover the rest. Also I did not know that WheelsNext and WheelGuyz charge an extra $60-100 on top of their packages for wheel balancing and mounting

Yea, these are some banging ass rims I have wanted them for quite a while but I kept getting set back between Insurance and impulsive buying of my HIDs. My buddy has some 19s on his Eclipse too and it does look good but It's not my preference

FlyinEsi, what size tires did you have on your 18s?

18's all the way, 19's are to bling...

people with 18's, what springs do you have and how much of a wheel gap is it? my suspension is to damn stiff so i want to change it to a more cozy ride.

I had 235/40 rubber, but they rubbed front and back. Go with 225's for sure on those rims. But you will still need to roll the fenders.

no doubt

19's > 18's :P
Only if your pockets allow your hand to go that deep.

I also love to fill thEEE enourmous wheel gaps Eclipses have. I would only get 19's if I could fit a 40 or 45 series tire in there.

My suspension setup as of right now:

18" rims w/ 40 series tire
Eibach prokit springs
Tokico blue shocks/struts

Rides Ok but I am like turbo and want a softer ride.

I am thinking about going with this:

18" rims w/ 45 series tire
Eibach prokit springs
Tokico Illumina's shocks/struts

With the 40 series tire you feel every bump in the road already, I can't even imagine having to ride with 35 series tires...good god!!!

BAM BAM BAM!!!

I am all for comfortable driving since my car is a daily!

If you guys are really after a comfortable ride you are going to have to drop some bling on your suspension setup. Go with a Tein SS setup or if you can find the Apexi WS Coilover Dampers that I have, or JIC, you are getting your moneys worth for how smooth the ride is.

I have ridden in a car with an H&R/Tokico spring setup (I think), it is bumpy as hell, but mine is a night and day difference, but quite a bit more expensive.

that is what I am looking for is a really smooth ride.

Go with a TEIN SS setup, I hear they ride like a cadillac. (not really, but much smoother ride than a stock setup even.) My Apexi coilovers are WAY more comfortable than my stock springs/shocks were. If you want the smooth ride, you gotta pay the cash.

damn it.. I was hoping that tokico illuimna and their springs at 1.5" would deliver a good ride that is nice and smooth.

Also found the Apexi WS Coilover setup. Found it for $900 a bit more than the tokico setup. Wish I had the money for this but need the rims first and need to fix my rear main seal. I wish I had the money you guys do.

NT: 18" - 215/40 - H&R Race Springs & Tokico 5-way adjustables - virtually no wheel gap. Pretty stiff ride.

Spyder: 18" - 215/40 - stock suspension - a couple feet of wheel gap but very nice ride :)

I have some Tokico blues and Tenzo R springs laying around and will be switching stuff around. Not sure about the combination though.

Are you serious Jen? Even with adjustables the suspension is still tight? Damn.. this sucks

When I said it was pretty stiff, I didn't mean it in such a bad way :)

It's tight, but a good tight. I really like it. The only reason I'm switching stuff around is because of my kids. It corners awesome and it does not bounce around like some of those Hondas you see on the street, you just really have to watch out for potholes, dips, bumps, which you would do anyway if you have 18" wheels.

I would recommend the H&R Race/Tokico Adjustables combo to anyone. Like I said, I'm really only looking for a smoother ride for the kids. I'm planning on putting the H&Rs on the Spyder as long as it will make it in and out of my driveway with such a drop ;)

get 18's 17's with a lip look very small. As far as ride if your going for looks/ride Eibach pro or sportline. If you want performance Apexi WS coilovers or some other brand of true coilover.

Well this afternoon I will be ordering my 18" Evos in Hyper Silver from WheelGuyz. So that sums that up. Then hopefully after I get my transmission fixed I will finish up with suspension and bigger rotors and some gsx or 3000gt vr-4 calipers
