I want to start doing some custom fiberglasswork... but my problem is, not relaly knowing how. I was wondering if someone could shoot me to a site, or give me any info on the process involved, the materials needed, etc.

Theres a ton of info on this site alone, it depends on what your looking to do. I started learning when I was like 12 reading car craft magazine and followed the write-ups almost step by step. Lots of trial and error and hanging out at a friends brothers body shop any chance I got. It also helps when your working on something of your own to not be afraid to screw up as it can all be sanded away. A good starter read would be like the haynes manual for body work. You will start to get familar at least with materials and what not and some basic steps. And probably google alot and see what kind of tips you can pick up. And at first start with smaller projects (I went to the junk yard and bought a fender to just mess around with when I was 12) ,that way if they come out like crap its not a big deal really. Its a fun way to spend time when you get to know your way around and have creative control.

3. Cuss
4. Practice More
5. Melt your resin container cuz you put in too much heat
6. Waste a bunch of mat because you didn't put in enough heat
7. Cuss a LOT
8. Read
9. Practice a shitload more
10. Then start putting it on car parts

There's a company that makes dispenser pumps for their resin/hardner (heat) cans that basically make it dumbass proof. It's like 10 squirts of resin per 1 squirt of heat. Just remember it's smelly, messy, and you are gonna fuck up at first so don't just pull out interior panels and start putting glass down on it.

i don't think it's hard at all.......and the only time i was succing is when i uded tooo much bondo and had to sand it 8 times over cause i wanted it perfect :P



All I did here was use a rag....lol. a cotton rag. Stretched it around the shaped I made. Pour resin on and used a foam brush to smooth out.

let dry. Clean up edges and sand high spots and i was left with this




After about another 3 hours of sanding and filling little tiny holes, and primer and paint and clear, i had this.

1st project.

fiberglassing is actually really easy to do, you just gotta have patience, time and the right tools to work with. The fiberglassing method depends on the type of project you have, If you got cracks or you wanna make somethin start with mat and resin, and then use some kitty hair, and then bondo and finish the last lair with some half time or dolphin glaze. Right now im putting some Integra tail lights into a customers eclipse and it just takes some time but the outcome is usually pretty sweet. And remember practice makles perfect
