81966, Tint Question Posted by EclipseTenzoR, Mar-01-05 07:46 AM
So I have limo tint on the back hatch and two back windows. I want to tint my fronts but not very dark. I want it to be dark on the inside of the car but still very lite on the outside. I need something that will flow up to the front from the limo tint. What do you guys suggest? Also how many people have tint on the fronts and live in New Jersey. I am asking because tint on the front windows is illegal but I still want to do it, just want to know if cops really pay much attention to the tint rule.

I got 35% on mine, it's dark, but not too dark, you can see in from the outside if your close and when you move away it's dark enough that you can't see in. My younger brother has it on his neon too and it looks real good.

I live in jersey and just went through inspection...I was told by the dmv that you aren't allowed any tint in the two front windows. It must be a new law because my first eclipse had tints and I went through inspection with ease :shrug
a pic of my current tints...which consequently have to be removed :thumbsdown :cry

you are right sir, I also live in nj lol around the corner from the newton inspection station.I'm glad I have a year left on mine. And your right on the law change they won't pass you on the inspection anymore because they say the front already has the maxium allowed right from the factory. But its funny how I see an ass load of new cars with darker tint then I have with aftermarket lol. I went with 5% on the hatch and 30% green on the fronts and triangles and you can kinda make out the people inside but not really. When I close the sunroof cover it helps even more. And I have been pulled over twice this year and there was no mention of my tint at all.

new jersey blows, i wanna keep my tints ;( also if you have a third brake light mounted in the rear windshield...you have to leave that little section of windshield(where the third brake light sits) free of tint.

Yeah, they'll really hassle you about the third brake light. When I had my gs, I went to get the turbo wing installed...the body shop told me that they wouldn't install the wing unless I had a third brake light to be put on too.

Thats gay as hell.. I may just tint my fronts to 25% anyway.. I don't care hopefully no one will hassle me from after the time i get it inspected to when I leave. Then the car will be parked for awhile.

you can always try and find a private inspection station...sometimes they'll let the tints slide.

its well, legit for the most part, you still have to pass the emissions so their computer will print out the sticker and all but the visual tends to slide a little more then at "the mans"

the guy will first fail you for tints...you then go back a day later and the guy is like, ok you took off your tints..you can pass now....even though you really didn't take the tints off. he basically just looks the other way and gives you your sticker. but going to a private station isn't cheap...the guy i went to charged 90 bucks to inspect the car.

I have 10% all the way around and 35% on my windshield. I've had it for two years now and no problems even with cops right next to me on a stop light. But I'm from Arizona.
