Alright i've had to eclipses in my life and each of them have flooded in the floorboards everytime it rains. i know the weather stripping on these cars are supposed to be not all that great but i can't seem to find where it is coming in from? the headliner and door pannels show no signs of being wet but yet there is a good size puddle of water in my floorboards and in the spare tire well. How can i test to see where it comes from? This is really starting to piss me off! Thanks for any help

when you pull off the right rear panel in the trunk there is something like a vent. check that. it's rectangle in shape. I had the same problem and when i sealed that, it stopped.

I think that's for the cd changer and that would only help the spare tire well. Most people say it's the spoiler bolts under the hatch panel, but for the leaking floor boards up front, sunroof maybe? Next time it rains, I suggest sitting in the car.

yeah i figured that sunroof too but when i felt around on the headliner it's completely dry. i dunno, i'm off tomorrow and may try to figure this out and look at the back like you were sayin.

When I took out my back seat, and pulled up part of the carpet, I noticed that the water was running from the back all the way up into the front. I could tell by the trails of dried mud...

And after i took off the panal, I felt around, and it feels like its coming from up behind the tire area, so I can't really reach where ever the leak is.

Well to rule out your sunroof you can loosen the star torque screws on the inside of the sides of the sunroof (3 on each side) and have someone press down on the sunroof real hard while you re-tighten those 6 screws. Just be careful not to strip them!

Does it leak really bad? Like few minutes of rain causes your eclpse to leak?
Anyways, get some highlighters. Take the inside part out and try to get that highlight shit mixed good with a bucket of water. Slowly pour that shit on to your car in areas you think that could be leaking. Then get you some black light and check if you can find where it's leaking. Repeat if necessary.

wouldn't that mess up your paint or stain the interior??
I know there are specific products made to test stuff like this that are guaranteed not to wreck anything. maybe Autozone or NAPA will have them, but I have no idea where to get them. I have just seen them advertised in hot rod magazines from time to time.

the piece I am talking about is not for your cd changer when there is a flap that leads to the outside of you car. pull the rear panel and check that. that is more than likely your problem. when water sits around the trunk, it leak behind the taillight down a path right to this section. it more than likely your source for the leak. i'll take pics of what I am talking about tomorrow.

Yeah, that is where the stock cd changer is, on the passenger side right? It's just to let air out of the car when you have all the windows up. I'm not sure how water would get in there but it's possible I guess.

Hatch weatherstripping?

last year i found tons of water in my hatch every time it rained but i traced it to the two drains on the sides of the hatch the two hoses were filled with shit so i took a metal coat hanger and kept poking at iit till all the shit came out.
what you should do is go out with a cup of water and pour it into the drain and se if it goes if not then you've found your problem

It's your drain hoses. They put this thin shitty tubing in. Go to a hardware store and get a kink free reinforced tubing of equal size and re-run the tubes. You'll never have a problem again.

My trunk always leaks water bad under where the spare tire is.

Yah my tubes had a bunch of dirt in them and just replaced them with some thicker tubing. What I did was route both of the drain tubes down the side like it normaly is and right down into the spare tire well and tapped them into the 2 rubber groments at the bottom of the spare wheel well. I just drilled holes and ran them down, haven't had a problem since!

thanks guys! that was exactly my problem the left one was pretty clean but the right had dirt coming out of the top of it!

If you have a sunroof then the drain tubes coming off your sunroof do the same thing dude.
