opening my fuel tank cover is currently a two person job. one to hold up the release and the other to pop the cover open. is there some type of spring that is supposed to be in there? :shrug

yeah should be a small tang that acts liek a spring to pop the door open just enough to grab.

i dont know if this is the same thing, so im sorry if it doesnt help you... but this happened to me too.

Inside the interior panel inside the trunk is where the cable connects to the assembly or whatever... well there is a little clip that the cable sits on, and my cable fell off the clip when i was installing some tail lights. i just put it back on the clip and worked fine...

Like i said, sorry if this is something different but if all else fails you might take a look at that.

thanks, but i think my problem is a little different...my release works fine, just need to pop it open while holding up the release handle

Star Turbo...thanks a million...that'd be great. i have no idea how the release spring works.

here you go the black thing by the hinge is a type of spring made to pop the fuel door open. yours may have fallen out.

thanks boosted...i was a little confused as to how those two little plastic knobs were supposed to open the cover though :shrug

Star Turbo, thanks a million for the pic....I'll have a look at mine this evening and see if that little thing is there. If it is, it probably just needs to be bent somehow. If not, i'll have to try to put something there to do the trick.
