I was just thinking..I want to change the color of the footlamps and I was thinking has anyone ever used the cathod bars that are used in computer cases?? I thought that maybe it would work really good not sure tho...Let me know what u all think

If they are the ones I am thinking of then you just need to put a different colored plastic cover on them. They look like little condoms.

If the "footlamps" are what I think they are (the small bulbs that fade out when you close the door), those tubes wouldn't work. Unless you wanted it protruding in front of your pedals. Of course, you could always mount it horizontal hidden behind a panel.

Bullshit.. I had these in my car and they were hidden you couldnt see them at all.. I had them tucked so good my feet never hit them.. Here is a picture.. mind this picture is a year old.. I no longer have the neons in my car anywhere and now everything is blue. And by the way the blue bulbs worked just fine for me. They do fade after time.. But a blue sharpie works well :thumbsup

if you want to just swap in some bulbs get some 194 LED buls from www.autovation.com (i don't know how many times i've given that site already... :P )

bulbs condoms do not last and do not give as strong a color as LED's. the cost difference is very small. LED's draw less power and do not get hot. why anyone would still want to get regular bulbs instead is beyond me :shrug

if you want to light up the foot wells at nite (not just when the doors are open) you really only need about 2 LED's per side. neon/cathode tubes are good too but usally more expensive and harder to mount. you'd be suprised how much a single LED will put out. just get one with a wide dispersion angle so you don't get any spotting. i've got 2 led's on each side and one under each of the seats to lite up the ground in the back seats and it's more than enough.

I used two blue cold cathode neons that i bought from xoxide.com. I cut off the PC connector and ran the power to my cigerette lighter and grounded it there also. I had it on a switch. I no longer have these in my car anymore, but they worked great up until I took them out. Cost $15 to do the whole thing including neons, wires and a switch (which you can see under my headunit) it illuminated blue when it was on.

Yea, it looks like you hid them behind a panel though...like I said before. :squint Correct me if I'm wrong. And that does look good.

Yea they were hidden behind the panels, sorry I didnt read you say that before. Worked very well and didnt shoot up from the floor to my eyes. Chicks loved it.

Question now is...can these be wired to repalce the lights that are there now? so that they work wiht your interior lights instead of a switch? That would be the way I want to do it.

of course. Just splice them into the existing wires that are currently on the incandescent 168's down there.

or you can tap into your parking lights. it's pretty awesome having them light up at nite whenever you have your lights on. it's not distracting or anything. it just adds a neat ambience to the car. i've got mine wired to the parking lights and i've also got 194 Led's replacing the stock bulbs. that way the floor lights up when the doors open or when the lights are on. the lighting from the 194 isn't as bright as the pairs of LEDs i have hiddne under the dash though.
