OK...here goes...

These were kind of hard to take pics of but if you take your front bumper off you'll see exactly where to put the ballasts. They are mounted on the support where the bumper support bar bolts onto.

I have got some heat insulating tubing for the HID wires. If you are going to do yours, I will recommend you to get those. It will present water getting into the connector areas and you know, the turbo is super hot, it will prevent from melting !

One last thing though... Can someone take pics up close where the the bulbs are behind the headlight and how they mount in the headlights? Also, can some take pics of the bulbs in the front during the day?

I am just interested how to install these things cause I am so tempted of buying one.

you know, you have to drill a hole to pass the HID kit to the headlight. SO, I put some black electrical tape on the edge to prevent water getting in.

What are you talking about? You don't have to drill a hole into the headlight.

So do HID kits just screw into the oem headlight assembly?

I have the Philips 7000K HID kit. For my kit, I have to drill a hole on the cap of the headlight. I show you the pic !

Just on the CAP. Very simple. I can tell you how to do it.
and there may be some kits that doesn't need to drill.

So do you just screw in the HID bulbs into the OEM bulb port?

For my Philips Kit, I have to drill a hole on the cap. Then, the HID bulb is just like a normal bulb setting, but, there is a wire passing out from the kit throught the hole (I drilled). Then, the wire is passing to the transformer. and then back to the battery.

Hope you understand my description.

jsupertran.. The bulb goes in just like factory. This is very simple to do.. Don't get confused by what tomatot said.. The thing he is talking about you dont have to do.. He just did that for extra protection. He is talking about drilling his dust cover. I just removed mine entirely. If you have any questions IM me on AIM.. I'll be more than happy to help you out with this. May I also suggest that you look into a a McCollouch kit... Quite a few of us here on 2gnt will vouch for it being an excellent kit. For under $300 who could complain. Just IM me if you need help.. I'll educate you in the world of HIDs :thumbsup

ya you don't need to do the cap thing. i had mine without the cap with no problems. well my ballast broke but that was unrelated. just a crappy kit. :P

bulbs are just like normal light buls except they've got wires going to the ballast instead of plugging into the stock socket.

Ok so if I got the McCullah kit (sp), do you all think I can mount that huge metal box (well it's not that huge) under my battery tray?

I would not recommend it. I will take some pics tommorow of where I placed my ballasts if you dont want to take the bumper off. I found a secure place to put mine for a few months until the weather gets better and I can pull the bumper off. Also I suggest that when you get your HIDs not to go any higher than 6000k for the bulb temperature. For two reasons..
1. You'll get pulled over.

2. Once you go over 6000K you are really not making much use of having an HID system, because more light is lost and less lumes are being dispersed.

I'll try and get some pictures tommorow before work.. Later

Thanks. Yeah I actually want the 4300k but seem to always find the used ones to be higher than 6000k on ebay. :( I might have to buy new.

I think you are better off buying new. I have a 5000K set and the output is pure white but still gives off that nice blueish look in the housing when the car is coming at you down the road. I love these lights.. One of the best appearence mods you could possibly do.

The 5000k looks very nice in the OEM housings. Pure white, no blue at all.

No. Wires arent long enough. Mount them where I did. It's the best place for them.

won't the ballasts get wet if they are mounted where you mounted them??

Old Post.. But no they really wont get wet unless your tredding through some deep puddles, but most ballasts are waterproof so I would'nt worry about it to much.
