Hey, i talked a log time ago, to a guy that got some kind of just plain plastic piece that replaced his ash tray and cup holder. He mounted all of his switches right there and i was wondering if anyone had heard of that... if so, where can i find it

Here's where I mounted mine. The green one is to turn off the interior lights, and door chime, so they dont drain the battery when I am working on the car. The 1st on behind the shifter knob is for the Carputer, the blue one is for the cameras mounted in the front and rear bumper, and the red one is connected to another WOT switch mounted on the clutch pedal to control my Rev limiter stage 1 and stage 2. flip the switch on and push the clutch all the way in and the rev limiter is activated for launches etc. I actually use my cupholder a lot, and my ashtray is where I keep my cellphone.

just make a mold over top of ur cupholder with resin, and the cut up your cup holder, glue the mold to the cup holder and you have yourself that piece.

All that is, is the stock cupholder and ashtray piece skeleton, then glassed over with the 5 switchs and Apexi unit glued right in. I *might* get rid of that piece, but I'm not sure. If I did get rid of it, I dunno if the Apexi unit would come out... its in there! But yea, it was really easy... even added some texture to it, but that went away within a few months.

I like Dirty's idea too about how he put the switches in the lower DIN spot. You could follow that idea with the switched I have if his are too big for your taste...

no joke man, thats hott! did you do all the paining yourself? If so, what kind of paint did you use on the panneling

yes i did it all...just used duplicolor hi-heat ceramic paint. only brand i could find in the right color...not very flexible but im careful with it so it doesnt matter. i need to redo alot of the interior though....for example, a built in enclosure for the tv in the airbag hole.

Okay, here is a different twist.....

I know nothign about fiberglassing so someoen would have to do this for me or show me how and teach me I guess. I want to essentially remvoe the cupholder and ashtray. Where it currently is, class in a remote touchpad for the carputer I'm building, One of these.

And fiber it in so it looks liek it is built right in. that will be the primary input device for my carputer. Then I will have a micro RF keyboard to dock in the glovebox for typing that needs to be done.

Think someone could build me one of these if I supplied the touchpad?

I still haven't decided where I am going to put my EDFC yet. Its either in the lower din or in the front part of the cupholder ashtray. I think it would look best in the lower din though...nice setups people.
