I think they look ugly as shit! Just buy one of AZDaves reinforcement kits. I have yet to install mine until the weather gets better, but I think its better than getty a tacky aluminum handle

Goshums, if only there were some kind of substance one could use to change the color of aluminum, if only there were some kind of "coating," if you will, that would mask the look of the metal. Gee and if it could just be the same color of the body, golly that would be great...
oh wait, it's called paint. :rolleyes

LOL
I like'em...if there is a groupbuy that I hear about I'll probably pick up a pair. I have a broken driver's side handle right now...but I do have a set of azdave's inserts. I have yet to use them because I'm not driving the car right now so I'm not in a big hurry.

Well, I don't like them either but I'm a wee bit biased. ;-)
Once I re-coup the money I've invested to make my 2G Door Handle Repair Kits a reality, then I'll like those aluminum handles much better.

(I told ya I was biased.)

obviously. but lets think about it, why would i want to buy an aluminum handle that would have to be repainted when i got it versus one of azdaves kit? itd be more money for nothing. pretty stupid if you ask me.

I haven't broken the outer door handles yet, but i have gone through like three of the stupid interiour ones. I need them to make those in aluminum i guess.

to each his own i guess.. but if you want to spend more $$from the factory for stock handles that arent painted and will break again go for it!
for those who get these handles... i just wanted to let u know...
Redefined Rides will offer a lifetime replacement warranty if you break these!

Here are your choices and rough coststo fix two handles.
1. New OEM door handles from ebay are about $120-130 plus shipping and may also need painted. Unfortunately, these are just as weak as the ones you are replacing.
2. New aftermarket handles from ebay are about $46-70 + shipping and must be painted. They feature the same design flaw as the factory handles so these are not any stronger by my testing. Yes, I actually bought a pair and broke them to prove my point (I then repaired them with an insert kit).
3. Solid aluminum handles from Redefined Rides about $60 + shipping. From what I've read these aren't in full prodcution yet but Jason is taking deposits and gauging interest before purchasing the molds? Discounts if you get in on the group buy going on now. Paint required for a factory look. Leave bare if you desire or have it polished for $5 more (Please correct me if I'm wrong on anything here Jason). More info: http://forums.2gnt.com/dcboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=49&topic_id=3590&mode=full
4. Door Handle Inserts from azdave (me) $14.95 with free shipping to any USA address. Requires no painting but you do have to buy a $4 package of JB Weld epoxy and install the inserts. More info: http://www.azflight.com/rcaz/sub%20indexes/doorhandlefix/index.htm
Of course all of these require removal and installation which is usually the worst part. Did I miss any other options??

80142, RE: I'd rather get these than the door handle inserts Posted by jasonlee, Jan-06-05 06:13 AM
u got it almost right....
shipping is included unless you live out of the country..
and they arent in full production yet, but that is what the group buy is for... to help ease the cost of the casting plate a little for me.
the guageing interest part is over.
nice list though... very thorough... thanks!

pricing for the handles starts at $40 each and $60 for a pair. they will come either primered or lightly polished. add $5 if you want a high luster mirror like polish job.
for the group buy we will take off $5 a pair for every 10 orders. this will be posted on SEVERAL forums so we are expecting about 40 orders total.
10 orders = $55 a pair 20 orders = $50 a pair 30 orders = $45 a pair... and so on.
lol so if 120 people sign up then they'll be free? :thumbsup
60 orders = $30 a pair 90 orders = $15 a pair 100 orders = $10 a pair
sorry, i didn't see any absolute minimum price for the group buy :P good product btw!
