Alright, heres the deal. This past weekend I got pulled over for my car being to low. From the center of the headlight to the ground has to be 24", I had 22". Right now Im rolling on 17's. My query is, will 18's plus rubber give me close to the 2" I need?

NO. Atleast i'm pretty sure. I know the 20's on my truck are just about as tall as my stock ones where.

you might get an inch at most with a bigger sized tire

when i went from the stock 16's to 18's it only raised it a little.

Ok, do me a favor. For those who have 18's, give me a measurement from the top of the tire to the ground and I'll go from there.

the rim size doesn't matter at all, what size tires would you get?? the wider and higher profile the better, but you will gain maybe at most an inch.

well an inch might make it to where they dont bother me. the cops around this one horse town are actually pretty cool, unless your an idiot, so they might let that go.

Any tire size suggestions that would look decent, cuz Im buying 18's within the next month no matter what.

the size of the rim usually doesnt change ride height because the tire is just thinner to try to keep the same overall size of rim and tire. Which makes sense with regards to your speedometer being correct etc.

taller tires might give you an issue w/ rubbing as well, keep that in mind...

Well I met up with a guy today that had the same exact wheel and tire size that I want. Well I measured the diameter of his tire and it was 25", mine is 23". There fore, it should give me the 2" I need. What do you think?

That will just raise your car an inch. If you measure from the center of the wheel it will give you an inch difference.

Are you on coilovers at all?? If not then get a spring that doesn't quite lower you as much.

Well thats better than 22" that I have now. Maybe they wont pick on me anymore, big bullies! :(

only half of the OD is going to help. if your wheel is 23 OD right now your are going to need to go 4" bigger in OD to get your desired height. that's a 27" tire rim combo. that's going to be a pretty big profile tire and you will probably have rubbing problems. maybe if you can just get 1" like you said you will be ok. do the calculations and sort your problem out.

rim + tire profile = final OD

If you go on ebay you can find 19" adr's for around 500.00. 19's would be your best bet. But if you go 18's I suggest a 225/40 18 tire to try to get you where you need to be. I had that same bomex bumper and the bumper itself is low for racing, which doesn't help alot in this matter. What kind of springs are you using? Maybe coilovers would be better for you. I live in PA also, they are starting to be pricks to us. I had one inspection guy tell me I need 6" from the bumper to ground to pass. Still I have never seen any inspection law about it. Plus my daily driven VW beetle was lower than 6" stock. So I have no clue where this guy got his licence.

I know when I was lowered and I had my stock 14's on in the winter I would scrape my bumper alot more than in the summer when I had my 17's on. Good luck man, everyone else in this post has given you the calculations you need to figure it out so I won't repeat them.
