79262, My ViS Invader hood?!?! is it supposed to look like this? Posted by TheOctane, Dec-06-04 11:50 AM
Hey all, i just saw some pics of other eclipses with an invader hood and i think mine might be a lil off or something. A profile shot makes my hood look really like arcy. Like it bows upward too much. I just wanted to know if you all know if this is to compensate for the original bump in the OEM hood or not. i dont have the best shots of it cause its dark right now when i realised its not supposed to look like that but heres a link to my CarDomain site..... PLEASE HELP!>?!?!?!?!

99 was saying the same thing. I just think its the angle of the shot. I don't think yours looks any more angled then mine does.

u dont really need them with the invader the air goes in the front and goes out the vent in the middle..i was looking at my hood while i was driving on the highway and i moves a little but not that much at all..i might get them just to be on the safe side..

I've had the vis invader hood on for about 7 months now, and around 10,000 miles w/o hood pins. Alot of the miles were on the highway between NY and TN and I maintained speeds from 80 to 100 with some spurts of 120mph. There's alot of strong wind all the time here in northern NY and I have yet to have a problem. If you're getting enough air under your hood to be able to lift it, it needs to be adjusted. If the hood moves, vibrates, flutters or shakes then it is not adjusted right and thats the reason they fly up. If it's adjusted too tight it will put too much pressure on the latch and could lead to failure. Also, when you shut your hood you need to grab it and try to pull it open then push it back down a few times. Theres been more then one time that mine did'nt latch And I caught it by tripple checking it. 99% of the time it's human failure and the rest is hood failure.

Its a 50/50 chance you take when not running hood pins on a carbon fiber hood. Some like the reassurance that the hood pins give! A breath easy mod!
