79172, New style of Projector headlights......
Posted by TheOctane, Dec-02-04 05:20 AM
Hey all, i saw this new type of headlight for the eclipse 2g and i was wondering if anyone knew anything about it. Heres a link to some being sold on Ebay....

If anyone knows if these are decent quality or if they just plain suck please let me know, I like these black housed projectors better then the older style. I like the new recessed housing look.

those have been out for a while now... there's some info on them about 3-4 posts down from this one.. they look sick as hell though. Anyone know if they're hid compatible?

Yea they've been out for a while now. So far they haven't given me any problems and appear to be very high quality. No fogging or anything like that.

They use H1 bulbs, and on the back of the headlights it says, "not hid bulb compatible" or something. I don't see any logical reason why they wouldn't be compatible though.

Yea, I'm sure that HIDs will work in them no problem. Probably just dont want to be liable if people put HIDs in and the person doesnt pass inspection they dont want to be liable for it.

Are H1 bulbs different than 9005 and 9006 bulbs? Because I spent $80 on my silverstar's and don't want to buy new bulbs.

you can make any bulb fit in any socket :) just takes a bit of work. if you pirated some pieces from your stock lights, odds are you could get them to work in the new ones. I've been wondering the same thing because Silverstars are expensive and I don't want to get rid of mine already.

I'm afraid that It might not work. There is a chance that the bulb could hit the projector because of how far it would extrude. Trust me man it sucks, because I had silverstars too that I sacraficed. I bought some cheap Nokya Artic Purples and they do the job just as well. But I will soon be buying HIDs in the spring during my major overhaul

yup.. those are the same ones on mannys car the only difference is that in the pictures for that peticular auction the halos are illuminated as opposed to all the other auction images. The recessed housing as you said and the "regular" housing are the only two projectors available off ebay, asides from the regular projectors... does anyone know what temperature the 8000k HID kits put out to get the blueish color?

I have those on my car. They are some nice lights and the light output is very nice cause' it shows a projector beam. You periphial lighting will not be as good. With aftermarket lights you always want to reseal them but I didn't and they didn't leak for six months, I have them takin apart now for painting the inside white. The led's did not last the whole time though. They only lasted about 5 months but are not hard to replace. I would recommend these to anyone looking for an awesome light. I love these and I think they are going to look even better when the inside color matches my white car.
