what grit sandpaper do i need to take off the paint of my car. i'm gonna primer it?

if you have to ask you probably should be primering any visible part of your car. You can just scuff it up if you want then primer or are you trying to bring it down to the steel?

Easy Killer! As most should know, A good paint job is directly related to the amount of time spent on the paint job and mostly the quality of work. You could scuff up the paint using 100 grit and you would see some nasty swirls in the surface. Or a 400 and spend a month trying to break the gloss on the whole car!
I would reccommend using a 180-240 for the first pass on the entire car. wipe the car down using isopropyl alcohol and then shoot the primer. When you are ready to shoot the paint, re-sand using a 320. It will take some time but the resulting finish on a top coat will be a lot better!
