I painted the valve cover red, and now i'm wondering how you guys got the silver DOHC 16v lettering to come out again. should i use a razor, or sand it somehow? thanks, and i'll post pics when i'm done

I took like a 4" piece of a 2X4 and wrapped it with 400 grit sand paper and very carefully sanded over it.

yes, sand it. if you use a razor, you may start the rest of the paint to peeling, and it wont be uniform. plus you can use the sandpaper to polish (wet sand) and really make it look nice

I painted mine with red body paint. About a year later it was flaking off and I was like wtf. The good thing is that the only part that was falling off was on the DOHC part. So I scraped the rest off. Now the letters are nice and shiney on a red valve cover. Every once in a while I get small victories.

I had mine fine bead blasted after it was powdercoated.

i used a belt sander for my VC's

I used black header paint and put it on while it was hot. Dried instantly.

I sprayed silver engine spraypaint on a small foam paint roller. :shrug Ghetto but effective.
