78251, Hood Pins - What Color for Red Hood Posted by Super20G, Oct-27-04 05:45 PM
What color hood pins should I get on a OEM style red carbon fiber hood. Painted to match the car, like my sig pic, not Red CF weave.
I am primarily looking at Sparco's hood pin kit unless you have better ideas.
TIA

I agree, silver seems to be winning so far. There are a few other silver accents on the car that might make silver hood pins look alright. I wish I didn't have to have them, but like you all say, it's not worth chancing the thing smacking the windshield.
Do you have a closeup of your hood pins installed? Are they the Sparco ones?

I say silver, plus I know people that have the red and it fades to pink really quick.

I think these are sparco. I had a few different kinds considering i also had 2 different CF hoods

I ran my my VIS CF hood without hood pins for about 8 months with constant driving of 80+ miles an hour every day. So you don't 'have' to have them, its just a good safe guard. I just hated how it looked with them on.
much cleaner

than...

Yeah, If I was keeping the hood w/ the CF pattern, I'd sport those CF pattern ones.

nope, not bad at all...i would, personally, get the holes in the hood before paint. Then if you mess up and crack the clear at all you can get it fixed, instead of cracking paint. Jus take your time and do it right and you will be all good.

no offense but why the hell did you paint over the hood tobegin with? i mean how are people supposed to knows its a carbon fiber hood with it painted the color of the car. total waste of a carbon fiber hood imo. i mean i know most of you guys care more about your "weight reduction" then the looks but damn it would look hot as hell with your red car.

I just care about weight reduction, I got hit by a deer, got paid for a new hood, why go stock when I could get a lighter hood for cheaper? And I like the stock look, I dunno...
