78118, Best Deals for Carbon Fiber Hoods Posted by Super20G, Oct-22-04 04:05 AM
I know a lot of questions are always asked about CF hoods so I will make this short, I am looking for any specials that anyone knows about lately that are still ging on? I am not looking to wait around for a group buy or anything, need this now.
Here is the deal, I quite possibly will have it sprayed to match the car so it doesnt loose the stock look. I just want the weight reduction w/ out the 'honda' look, not that it's a bad thing, just doesnt fit my scheme too well. Should I spend the money and get a nice VIS one, or should I just get a lower quality one? Are the ones that have flaws in the CF pattern still smooth, good latches? I just want the paint shop to be able to spray it and not have to smooth it and stuff...
Let me know if you have any other comments/suggestions, I dont know a great deal about body work. Where are the good deals at?

I think if you just want to paint it anyways buy one fron the for sale section thats used, I know HipHop615 has got some good deals going right now. If you want it for weight reduction your probablly gonna see the track....even if the latchs are good I'd still hood pin it to be on the safe side.

Thanks, I didnt even think about used.. so that helps, I will definately look into that. Now I am debating it since I have COLD snowy winters and you all are saying some of your hoods are cracking :/ Maby I am just doomed to be stuck w/ the OEM hood forever.

well, its not really, no more than my bumper or spoiler.. but where i live, there are all kinds of honduh's with cf hood's, i dont know, i think cf hoods look hot on 'some' color's of painted bodys, but not every single paint code out there. I just think on some cars it looks cleaner to have all your body painted the same color... get what i am sayin'?

I have a vis hood, and live in IL where the temp change doesn't get much more extreme... Never had an issue with cracking. It's for sale btw. :)
