Figured I'd post a couple pics just for the hell of it. Swapped my old Starion front mount to this one. Car boosts and runs smoother, and runs a tad cooler. If you look closely, under the intercooler, below the bumper you can see the steel brackets I have supporting it- I need to paint those black soon... anyhow, here they are

very nice, damn if there was a way you can get all the air to get all of the IC. i know there's more room up there, but i know you don't wanna hack that bumper. you should feel the difference when boosting; when i changed IC's, damn did i feel more power. awesome man! wait till you get a bigger turbo. it'll be even better.

really like what you did with headlights... Wish I'd painted mine silver instead of black!!

Posted by AndrewESi_T, Oct-03-04 10:32 PM
It doesnt touch the headlights or anything... it curves up and around his foglight and goes right above the top of the IC... it is pretty crazy...he got lucky though, didnt really have to cut bumper much or do much fabrication.

The Starion will be for sale soon. I just have to see if one guy is going to come through with it. He has dibs, but I am unsure if he actually wants it...we'll see. If not, it will be in the for sale section tonight.

Nice..man..I'm thinking bout upgrading my small Starion one for one of RREs Griffen one. Did you lose some pressure with the bigger I/C or is that offset by the cooler intake temps?

I wanna see how creative you got with the piping...thats the fun part. Looks realy good. I see you used a rubber elbow on the pass side.......time to invest is a small lincoln welder and learn to weld man, you can do so much more when you go that route.

Get some picts up i'm dieing here

I didn't lose any pressure at all, I havn't touched the boost controller since I installed it and Im still hitting about 6psi. Maybe because it is a bar and plate style IC and not a tube and fin? I have heard they are more efficient, but it is much heavier. It weighs about 20lbs.

Nice job on the piping man, i know how hard it is to get that pipe all the way around to make it fit nice. Your car def. looks 10000X better with that big ass FMIC! :bowdown to silver !

that piping is wicked retarded, reverse the 90 degree elbow on the turbo and run the piping from the turbo through the passengers side behind the headlight, or make it go down infront of the radiator and come out by the splash guard. eh i the 420a might be too cramped with all those a/c hoses but i would giv eit a shot anyways
77701, RE: Pics of new IC installed
Posted by Ryan_Hes, Oct-05-04 09:13 PM
Theres no room on the passenger side, no a chance. The only 'bett'er way I know of it to clock the turbo so the outlet faces towards the ground, and run the pipe down......but I don't have exerience clocking the turbo..so I didn't go for that route. Plus Id have to change a lot of my custom pipe...

yeah man, definitely try to improve that plumbing. that's way too much. you have to clock the turbo downwards and do it behind the radiator, it'll be a lot better, and less pressure drop. if you think about it, look how long it takes for the oulet compressor to reach the intake manifold. the shorter the route it takes, the less pressure drop you get. and also try to avoid as many 90* pipes as possible. i was able to do mine with just 3 of them. also try to invest on better silicone hoses and t-bolt clamps.

Oddly, I don't have any pressure drop since after the install... Yes I do need to upgrade my cmoupler and clamps, but that won't happen until I start boosting double digits....6psi is nothing on these. I've only blown a coupler off once...and it was because it was loose, they hold up well.

Clock the turbo. Run the pipes around the passenger side. Here are some pics. If you need more let me know.

Inlet pipe.

You can see the pipes behind the bumper where the driving lights used to be.
