I know our bulb type is 9000, but I've been researching this inquiry some website list kits with 9000 bulb type with 8000k and some are 9000k. What the difference? And most importantly, which is better?

it has to do with the color- i have 8000K and its a blueish tint to it- check out this site- it shows the different colors http://www.misterjung.com

I wouldn't buy a no name kit. And that first link lies...no hid kit is street legal.

its a temperature in kelvin. the only legal HID lights in america are the ones that come factory.

and just jack some hid's off a lexus and glue'em into ur car. they will work good for sure.

If you go ahead with an HID conversion I highly recommend this guy on eBay. He sells top qualty McCulloch brand HID kits with generously long wire sets at a fair price. If you want the purple tint then go with the 8000K color temp bulb. I have used the 4700K and 6000K and they are great. The higher color temps actually put out less light than the lower color temp rated bulbs. If you are planning on using a stock housing then go for the 8000K bulb. It will have that light purple look and not be quite so intense as the 6000K or 4700K. Either way you'll have plenty of light. I modified my stock reflectors to reduce the glare above the cut-off line and aim them slightly lower than normal to be sure I'm not blinding oncoming traffic. In close to two years I've never got a complaint or a "courtesy flash" from oncoming traffic. The DOT doesn't want everyone just popping an HID set into your vehicle and having a brightness battle out on the streets. If you pop these bulbs into factory stock headlamps they will have excess glare that will distract oncoming cars. I put a set into some aftermarket non-projector headlamps for a test and the beam pattern was incredibly horrible.

You're gonna laugh but I actually mounted each lamp housing in a fixture with the stock bulb shining on a wall at a fixed distance. I noted the cut-off line and beam pattern. I then installed the HID bulb and noted the changes. I shimmed the bulb in the mount slightly then also removed the clear front housing in an oven and (here's the funny part) while wearing a welders helmet, with the lamp on, I found several places where the reflector was sending light out above the cut-off line. I either de-glossed those tiny areas or put a dot of flat black paint there so no strong beams of stray light were above the cut-off line. A lot of work but I wanted to be sure I was not blinding anyone.

Mcculloch kits kick ass. I have had mine for a while and it was less then some sold by a company that was recommended by another 2gnt'r.

idk if this is typical of the quality on hanabi kits but their website also disappeared (the manufacturer not the vendor).

Do HIDs work well in aftermarket projectors? You know the ones you can buy with angel eyes in them? I'm curious because my friend has gotten me into the whole thing on considerin getting HIDs now that hes doing it to his 97 Maxima. I would like to get projectors but afraid that they might not dispurse as well as the stock headlights.

I have seen projector units on ebay that specifically mention that they won't accept HID conversions but others don't say so. From my experience, due to the larger connectors and extra wires, that some mods are needed just like on the factory units. It may be no more than drilling out access holes etc. I have never seen very detailed photos of the back of the aftermarket projectors so I can't guess at that. You'll probably need H3 bulbs as opposed to the stock 9006. I'm going the very difficult route of fitting Audi A4 Bi-Xenon projectors within the stock housings. It may prove immpossible but I'm hacking on an old housing to see how I can fit them in. At some point I may just by some projectors on ebay and try to upgrade them to true HID. If it doesn't work out I'll just put them back on ebay un-used for $20 bucks less and sell them off.

The stupid brucesspeedshop is what I was talking about.
They are a toatal rip and bruces is a worthless company. They just gave me the run around for ages. In the end , neither hanabi nor bruces wanted to deal with the return.

ya i wouldn't buy the hanabi kit again. i'm surprised they're still for sale since hanabi's website closed a looong time ago. i didn't have a problem ordering from bruces speed shop though. it was just a major PITA that they needed to FAX me a receipt to sign for my credit card payment. it's nice that they verify stuff like that but it seemed a little behind the times to me (this was 2 years ago). also at the time the price they were offering their HID kits (with 2GNT discount) was waaaaay below what kits were selling for on ebay and elsewhere. i think i paid $350 + shipping for mine. at the time typical ebay kits were going for about $600ish.

so yea it was a good deal at the time but not anymore.
