I am looking for pics of the radio trim, center vetns, and the fog light/cruise/mirror piece that have had the texture sanded out and then painted silver with a black interior. Anyone done this yet? I have seen them just painted but not sanded smooth. Also how did you do it.

Fiber cares me. Never used it. Did you do it or have it done?

my interior's not black but this gives you an idea at least..
i just sanded everything. make sure you sand lightly between coats too. that way it'll have a silky smooth finish when you're done. i didn't clear coat b/c i didn't want it to look that shiny. the silver's shiny enough. kinda almost gives it a brushed aluminum look.

sanding's a PITA but comes out looking 1000x better IMO. i painted it w/o sanding the first time and quickly decided to redo everything.

umm i can't remember off hand... just do a search a lot of people recommended what grits to use an stuff. i just followed that i think. it's the first sanding that takes the longest. it's a major PITA getting rid of all the texture - especially in the tiny spaces. my interioir trim pieces were actually out of the car for almost a year b/c i kept getting lazy everytime i'd start sanding. once i got it sanded painting was easy. couple coats of primer and a couple coats of paint and you're all good. just sand lightly between coats. it should feel silky smooth after each time.

nitro glaze spot putty and start with a 400 grit then may be go to a 600.....spot putty is way more forgiving if you never used fiberglass before and you don't have to mix it.

Im doing my pannels right now, and Im using 40 grit to start, then I think 80, then 220 and 320....Use the 40 just to rid texture, then the rest to smoth it down....Also I think its best to use a sandable primer, they fill small cracks a lot better then a regular primer, then just sand and paint....
