I recently got my car painted and I need to wetsand the dust spots out. Can some give me specific details on how to wetsand. Thanks

Jim....if you never did it before DON'T best thing to do is watch someone do it first...

Why would YOU have to take out the spots have the shop that painted the car do it...

Get a bucket of water and some 1000-1500 grit sand paper, wet the spot your sanding and go to town. Watch closely so you don't sand in the paint. It will look real dull when you get done, then just buff it out and it will shine better than it did coming out of the booth.

if you add a little dish soap to the water your paper won't clog as quickly

True, but don't do this right away. If your car just got painted the buffer and buffing compound will fling the new paint right off the car. Give it a month before you wetsand or buff it.

I spit out my coffee with the thought of paint flinging off the car......I could almost see the expression on someones face .....Eyes all bugged out like WTF

And it won't litterally fling it off LOL....but yeah that mental image is pretty funny.


Oh, and don't wax it either. If you put wax on it within the next 30 days it will bubble and destroy your paint.

Use a block when you sand too so the surface is always flat, wet the car, have a bucket and keep dipping the sandpaper in the water, or have a wet rag the you squeeze the water out of onto the part ur sanding as you sand

a week is fine for letting paint harden enough to sand... that's how long I let mine harden before wet sanding the WHOLE car.... it was fine.

1500 grit is good, NO SOAP!!! just water... don't go too hard and if oyou see color running down the side of the car instead of white you can say "god damnit!!!!!" because you hit paint.

IMO TAKE IT BACK!!!
