75686, Where can i buy paint for my paint job? Posted by EclipsedChef, Aug-05-04 11:24 AM
Im looking for a gunmetal color and i would like a decent paint. A friend and i will be doing the work(with a full paint shop of course), and i would like everything i'll need including the base/paint/clear. House of Kolor is out of the question, just too expensive for me, im posting here only because i have no other clues as to where to look and im sure you guys have painted a few cars before. Thanks for any help.

napa sells shitty paint. if HOK is out of the question, look into Valspar paints. Valspar owns HOK and it is pretty nice paint. We spray most cars at my shop using valspar.

www.valsparrefinish.com
No place to order it online that I know of. It's better to have it mixed at a valspar dealer

we usually use ppg or dupont paints. we get ppg from a local no name parts store, and the dupont from o'reilly's. Gabe

I second the ppg. Hell, they use it on lamborghini's.

I heard from numerous paint guys that Dupont is going down the toliet... Use PPG for a flat color. House of Kolor takes a lot of time and patience, see sig. It took 4 days of SOLID 15 hour days to do that. There is 30+ layers of HOK on the car right now, including just under 2 gallons of clear... Good luck to you.
 80% finished now... wo0t!

Akzo Nobel is where i get my paint from. Not sure the price difference between them and HOK, PPG, etc... but i have a friend that works there and i usually get a pretty good price. Hell i get messed up mixes for free and i usually get some pretty cool colors...
EDIT: http://www.akzonobel.com/
