My windshield is cracked on my Talon..

I'm planning on going to one of the U-pick it places..

I was wondering, can I pull the weather stripping off, and then use a little hand held flame-torch to just melt the sealant thats on it? Then after I melt it, just slide a piece of metal around the windshield to stop the sealant from reapplying onto the windshield?

There's no power out there, so I can't use a heat gun or anything electrical. I don't care about messing up the paint/metal on that car. Is there any other ways to do it?

piano wire- heat it up and break the seal/glue with that- thats what i've read lately because i thought about changing my own glass, then i read how much of a hassle it is so i just went w/ a glass place

you wont be able to do it yourself, just pay the $250 and have someone else fix it

Yeah.. I'm not planning on installing it myself.. just pulling it out.

I cut up a 95 eclipse last fall, i mean cut up, it went in the recycle bin each week in pieces no joke. The windshield was cracked but i wanted to remove it without making a huge mess. I tried everything, piano wire, razor blades, sawzall blade. no luck, almost got glass in eye. ended up cutting the metal surround and taking it with the windshield. i would never try to take the widshield out of my car.

I watched the company that changed out the one in my talon (cracked when the weatherstrip was removed so dont do that either) and the company used a type of hot knife to cut itout.

I had to take my car in to an autoglass shop to change out my windshield. Let me just say, its a pain in the ass to take out. They had some trouble trying to pry it free. They eventually got it out with some sort of wedge knife. If your trying to get the windshield out of the junk car w/out cracking it, goodluck. The guys at the glass place cracked my windshield even more before they got it out. It didnt matter cuz that one was getting trashed anyway. Maybe if you can get a small torch, you could probably get it out easier.
