I forget the name of them but I want these. Actually they have ones that are rivited on the frame and only the lock goes through the hood so it's even cleaner than these.... My buddy said you can get them at like a hotrod / race shop for like 2 bucks each! Those nasty sparco ones with the huge pin don't even compair to these. What do you think?? If I keep my hood I'm putting them on... I don't want to take a chance with the latch on my Carbon Fiber hood... that would suck. PLUS you could paint the top black so you won't even see them!!

You ca order them through summit or jegs. You will have to use more of them, they are not designed to hold as much pressure as the traditional ones. That is the reason you see one for each 12" on cars with them installed. Personally i am oldschools so i like the pins but i realy hate the new ones that are designed for imports....look ghey. I know the traditional look too bulky for our cars but i love them on my superbee but they were stock back then..:)

i dont like em.

reason being and from what ive gathered from the unfortunate is that with those you cant tell if they are locked or not.

so its likely that you can forget them and drive off and hood flies up. (murphys law)

i like the standard cause you can visually inspect easily.

my opinion

you can see if these are not locked in

when they are set they become flush with the mounting surface

if they are loose the screw will be pertruding a lil

There is a spring under the screw part, so it pops up when it is not locked down. Also, those pins are not going to be the main supporters of your hood, they are secondary. Your latch will be doing the majority of the work, they are there for added safty and support for the stock hood latch.

Hartwell-Dzus makes exceptional fasteners like that, they are in their raceline catalog that you can download from their website i think it is www.hartwell-dzus.com

They are down the street from me. I have no idea what the cost of those parts are, but they definitely spring loaded and i believe require 90degrees to lock. if the fastener unlocks then the center retaining screw will pop up about an inch verifying that the latch has been unlocked.

My girlfriends dad's racecar uses these and they work great. He runs 8s in the quarter and has a huge v8 that shakes the hell outta the front end and still no movement. He goes 160+ so im sure they will stay on for everyday use. They are easy to put on and take off too. He has about 16 on his because he doesnt have hinges on the hood so you may need more you may not im not sure.
