74632, can someone make me some seat brackets?
Posted by siueclipse, Jul-05-04 10:25 AM
I was given a pair of black APC racing seats. I wouldn't buy APC racing seats, but like i said, they were given to me... They seem pretty nice and sturdy. Anyway, Im wondering if someone can make me some seat brackets for them. Ive noticed that it looks like i could bolt them to the floor as long as i raise up the side so they are level..

James since you not to far i can do it for you. i will need picts and full measurements. you also need to understand i work for Commonwealth Edison....nuff said? patience will be needed. price will depend on how elaborate you want them. basic braket with some adustability is 45.00 each. i will work with measurements and pictures but you gotta be perfect with your measuring. I guarentee the bracket fits the car since i have 2 2gnt's. If you give me a bad measurements on the seat slider you cant blame me on that one. Someone on this board did that and wasnt happy.

not a problem

If your planning any trips to naperville that would be the best way to final fit.

APC seats are about the same quality as all the other seats out there that aren't top-shelf name brand. Not the most comfortable in the world, but a definate improvement over stock.

If you think your stock seats can handle more abuse then the APC seats... well, try it out and let me know.

All aftermarket and factory seats a subject to failing during a collision. The seats that are most likely to fail are the the ones that don't have dual locking mechanisms, like APC, Tenzo-R, DAD, Matrix, R-1, etc. Momo, Sparco, Cobra, and the like have the dual locks on them and in my opinion are safer.

On the other hand, if the impact comes from the front, your seats don't really do shit. Your harnesses (3, 4, 5 point) are gonna hold you in even if your seat comes right out of the floor. If the impact comes from the rear, your seat can snap backwards and even with your harneses on, your fucked. The only thing you can really do about this is install a cage. I like this idea because, it doesn't only help from rear impacts, but side, front, and a rollover. Plus I need more room to mount ma shit. If I type anymore I'm gonna freak out. Hope this helps.
