can some of u guys recomend a soap that i can use to strip all the polish and baked in polen off my car, then something to fill in all the swirls? (teh car is black)

I just detailed my car few weeks ago.. What you want to do first if you intend to really go all out is, use Dawn soap first.. this will strip all the wax from the car.. Next you want to get some type of clay bar and lube.. Throughly go over the whole car with clay bar keeping it lubed and keep flattening it out. This gets tedious. Next I used Meguiars Polish and applyed in strait lines. I removed the polish then went over with Meguiars Tech Wax which worked beautifully. I went over with the buffer and she looks great. I will send you a link to my buddies Maxima because we did it at the same time and it turned it excellent.

While I thought about the Dawn to strip the wax, it had been so long since Daisy got waxed that the water wasn't beading up anymore most places and I thought that was good enough.

I can personally, very highly recommend getting the Mothers California GOld Clay Bar set. It's like $15 at Pep Boys and you can do your car like 3 times with it. Comes with a little bottle of wax and a bottle of this peppermint smelling instant detailer/lube for using the bar. So you wash the car, dry it all nice, then take the clay bar to it. I only did the top parts of the car that day (since I spent about 8 hours on it), but I tell you what, after doing a section with that bar, you rub your finger across the areas you did to the ones you didn't and you can tell. Feels like glass.

If you still see swilrs in the paint after using the bar, I would suggest trying some Meguire's Scratch X, swirl remover. I would do it after the bar since the bar removes grit and imprefections the swirl remover would be swirling around. You have a black car? Prepare to see your face in the paint. Seriously.

I wish I had heard of this Zaino wax company a few weeks back, cause I would have bought their stuff to try it out, but I've just bought a tub of Meguire's Gold Class paste wax. It's quality too, so I think I'm okay.

After doing all this, a few weeks back, Daisy even looks clean when she's dirty imo. I mean, obviously up close you can tell, but she has a fresh shine to her that she was missing before. I suggest everyone do something like thie every couple of years or so. :thumbsup

3 words: Meguiars Tech Wax.... i got a black ride too, and it cleans it up nicely! :-)

If you wanna get serious do this:


1. Strip wax.
2. Wetsand starting at 1000 going up to 2000 grit. Go light so you just resurface the clear.
3. Polish using progressively finer polish.
4. Wax the fuck out of it.

I added 2 coats of wax.. Just a suggestion.. But Deff. use the Tech Wax.. The birds hate it, you get bird shit on your car once it rains it washs rite away. :-)
