73272, need help side skirt install Posted by berightback, Jun-06-04 04:51 PM
I am getting 97-99 eclipse side skirts some time this week. I need to know how to install them other then the bolts in the fender wall... i.e. What type of double sided tape, how to mount the door caps, any extra reinforcement that you might have done.
Tried searching but didn't get much help at all. Any help is greatly appericiated. Thanks

tis all about the bolts IMO...i don't have my skirts installed yet, but you wanna put bolts in in the inner fender well, and, i think, along the bottom of the skirt. Since they are all OEM fitment you shouldn't need any tape or anything up top to fit em on better. Jus kinda hold em up to the car and use your best judgement as to where to put the bolts.

what about the little plastic pop screws :shrug ? you bolt it underneath and to the fenders, but to keep the top of the skirts against the body you use those little white plastic dealies (like my tech terms? :P )

unless your car actually has the plastic thingies on it already...don't bother...it'll be a huuuuuge pain jus getting them to line up to pop in...nevermind the holes that would have to be made for them. You should be all set with the screws up the sides in the fender wells and along the bottom...worse comes to worse you could throw some sort of paint friendly adhesive on there.

yeah, i guess you might could put like 2 screws in each fender well (vertically lined up) and all the ones in teh bottom it may hold up...only thing im worried about is there being a gap at the top and it under the door :shrug
i havent been just thrilled about drilling huge holes into the side of my car anyways.
and leave the caps off IMO...looks hot without them.
